The brief should NOT be survival. It's common tactics in any business- if you aim for X you will either achieve X or just short of it.

So we should be raising expectations- backed by some investment and a firm plan as to HOW. If we do this, and aim for the playoffs- we may just make it, or at least be comfortable mid table. If we constantly aim to finish outside of the relegation places, we will continue to finish 4th bottom. I think this is what Flicker is alluding to in recent interviews, at least in part.

This is where Keith Hill got it totally wrong in my book- he was constantly harping on about surviving in the Championship was not only the objective but a fecking overachievement.

If you tell any player that, or any team, whether in football or any other walk of life, they will live up to those expectations (or fall just short).

I'm looking forward to my "Beat The Bookies - Again!!!" letter.

We don't have the know how or the desire to take the club forward at the moment.

Depends on the budget and support whoever is manager gets. That's what it boils down to every year.

Keith deemed survival as "walking a tightrope with two broken legs" in November.

Flicker must have walked it with two broken legs, whilst having a seizure, blindfolded, and Don Rowing shaking the fcukin rope.

    Legend.

Keith's motto for life - "lower expectations to hide limitations".

The club needs to capitalise on the groundswell of positivity engendered by Flicker and survival. Get the letter out, ban the phrase "beat the bookies" and don't have a best misleading "discounts" or silly deadlines.

Throw down a challenge to get say 10,000 season ticket holders to get a set price or slighly more if we can't meet this

Always happy to be in this division small attendances and lack of investment means every year we stay up is a bonus. Sooner finish 4th from bottom than go into the kick and hope league

Flitcroft proved that his idea of realism was like everything else that came out of his mouth - utter tripe.

I think all that is too late. It's 3 months until the season, that type of activity needs plenty of marketing, publicity etc. The best time do it is when you've got 9000 of your potential customers in one place - we're not going to get that until August.

I reckon we've missed the boat. £50 season ticket increase. Pay on day freeze. Done.

If Flicker is appointed, if he is allowed to keep Mellon on and if he is allowed to keep who he wants from the players out of contract and bring a few more players in I think I'd be a little disappointed if we're anywhere near the bottom 6 after the league has settled down after the first few games. A striker or two, a centre back or two and a right back and I reckon we should be looking at challenging those teams we outplayed at the other end of the table, rather than worrying about the long ball teams who took points off us at the bottom. With more commanding centre backs we wouldn't have conceded the goals we did against Bristol, Wednesday and Huddersfield for starters. Get that bit right and we are a top half team. Then get someone who can convert the chances we create and we are a top 6 team.

What's more, on the whole, apart from a few loanees, Hill and Flicker made some very good signings for very little money, so I have no doubt that Flicker and Mellon would spend the money wisely. O'Grady and Scotland were certainly very good signings in the second half of the season. More like those please.

Ah ah, no no... you're not allowed to mention Keith Hill. It was part of your pact with the devil if we were to stay up if I remember correctly.

    He worked a miracle.

Why's he asked for more support from the board if it's a realistic aim to make mid table next year? Because he knows it'll be massively difficult.

It isn't just about more money, it is about a better attitude. Not saying how lucky we've been to have been in the Campionship for 7 season and what a pleasure it has been.

That attitude wasn't brought to the club by Keith, though.
