and once again i'm sure it will drag and seem like it's lasting forever. Have any of the smaller clubs released us in there pre season games yet. I'm talking about a Alfreton....
Premier league, playoffs, champions league final. Plenty football yet. And I enjoy the close season and not having my weekend mood determined by football.
There is more to life than football Hemsy - I quite like the idea of a break for a couple of months - can go on holiday without missing games , do stuff in the garden on Saturdays etc And its good to have a time when you have to look forwards to the season starting - if you miss it for a bit you appreciate it more when its back
I'm happy with the three month stress free break. BBQs, holiday, Wimbledon, Cricket etc. More to life than Football.
Why don't you get yourself a summer job? Pay for your season ticket and a few other luxuries in life.
Fancy being my labourer all Summer, mate? I'll do all the tricky, intricate work. You can do all the digging. Not that I'm a lazy, old bugger!. Oh no!
Re: Fancy being my labourer all Summer, mate? I have just fainted on behalf of the culture of museums and historic collections!!
He'll love it Out in the fresh air every day, discovering the nation's heritage, surrounded by perspiring, young girls in various stages of undress due to the hard work and (sometimes) the heat. When it comes to the intricate work of excavating various delicate artefacts which end up in museums, universities, stately homes etc., I'll take over. Unless I'm having a nap!
Re: He'll love it Or put another way Piss wet through, watching smelly sweaty birds with trench foot get the monk on with you cos you're not pulling your weight, on a hellishly muddy swamp. Sounds brilliant.
Tsk, tsk, tsk Have a bit of the poet, the artist, in your heart, young lady. Or simply lie, like me! Usually when it rains, everything stops for tea, coffee, pop, etc. The young students can't handle the rain. It's only the silly, old buggers that are prepared to work in it. It doesn't half make a mess of my hair, though!
Re: Tsk, tsk, tsk I'll give you that, you could make a day out at Bramall lane sound exciting with your spin....
Re: Tsk, tsk, tsk To be fair that was the last exciting thing that happened at Bramall lane. 3,000 Barnsley fans, chanting "Daniel Leagueoneovic" ....
The summers are long especially when there is no tournament but like others have said there are loads of other things to do. To be honest I only miss it on a Saturday and as usual I will find other things, no matter how crappy, to do.
I've got to agree with hemmsy a little bit The last four months have been that intense, it all seems a little bit flat right now. No doubt I'll eventually stop constantly thinking about the next game coming up and working out where we'll end up in the league, but it's proving to be a tough one to shake off, even though there's nowt to worry about for the time being. Flickers contract not withstanding, oh **** there I go again.
