Just me that wants us to get rid of him sharpish? Keep the Lukas on the bench, free up some of the wage bill (I know he won't be on a substantial amount, but it could be spent somewhere a lot better in my opinion).

If he's got a year left, could sell him off relatively easy to a league one side maybe and seen as we got him on a free wont be losing a fortune.

The whole Rochdale incident did himself no favours what so ever

I think we should get shut of him too. But I doubt anyone would buy him from us.

    Depends if Steele stays.

I think he was brought in in case Steele left - remember, Steele wasn't on Keith's 'list' he gave to Don.

No from what I've seen of him he is ok as a number two to Steele plus we dont have the brass to have any better on the bench. Rochdale was a long time ago, he made a mistake, he was punished and it should now be forgotten about.

He also made up for it in quite a few games after.

The problem is he suffered just like Wiseman did - he was keeping Steele out of the team.

Then what do we do if Steele gets injured? 3 pro keepers at any one time.

I'd rather have young Lukas on the bench. Worse case scenario for me, is if Steelie goes and we go with Alnwick as first choice keeper, as I just don't rate him at all.

Once bumped into Lukas and David Preece in town, and Preece thinks very highly of the lad, maybe it's time he was given more of a shout.

He's looked good the few times i've seen him. If we stick with Alnwich around he might as well leave us because he's not even going to get a chance to sit on our bench. Shame really.

The fact that preece rates him worries me because he was absolutely shocking!! I don't know what the problem is with Alnwick your not gonna like me after this but, from what I saw the games he played he was just as good as steele! The only reason Steele got back in the team was down to fans pressure! I wouldn't be bothered if Steele went! IF he was that good why is he still with us after 5 years or so??

Don't really follow the logic. I once made some homebrew which was terrible. However, I am quite confident in my ability to distinguish Kelham Island Pale Rider from Fosters.

Eh? A back up keeper who performed pretty well when asked.

Ok he had a bad game but he played better than Steele did against Charlton funnily enough

    Charlton - Luke Steele.

He acted stupidly against Rochdale, but after witnessing that foreign blokes attempts (Gonzalez was it?) at keeping it was good to see an able keeper again when his suspension ended.

He was poor against Forest in particular, but I feel it's harsh to write him off as we've seen little of him since.

From my viewing, he looked ok in the early home games.

I never criticised him like some, I merely asked for him dropping because we had one of the best keepers at this level in reserve.

He's an able deputy, and should Luke turn down a contract with us I expect he'll be given a chance to stake a claim if indeed Flitcroft and co feel he warrants one.

Unless you're Peter Schmeichel, Oliver Kahn or some other wonder keeper, I don't understand your logic. David Preece, a man who has made a living out of being a goalkeeper, can't say he rates a fellow goalkeeper because you think he was poor. Yet you (who I assume isn't a professional goalkeeper) is allowed to rate Alnwick?

Not having a dig, just stating something :)

I actually stuck up for Alnwick early on, he did very little wrong (Rochdale aside) but he then made several costly errors in a row, something which could have cost us. Had we gone down this year by the odd point, some of Alnwick's errors may have resulted in our departure from this division. There was one game in particular (maybe Forest at home) where he was at fault for 3 of the 4 goals we conceeded.

There does come a point where a young player coming through ie. Lukas, needs a chance.

I personally view Steele as being undisputed no. 1 and would gamble with Lukas as deputy and let Alnwick go.

Alnwick is average at best.....doesn't appear to concentrate enough (error prone) and his kicking is shocking.
