Perkins interview with Sky

Good interview. Not so sure about the last bit though - looks like he has been listening to the fans of our very own noisy neighbours, with his "massive" comment!

 

'I messaged him after the Huddersfield game and said: 'It was your team', because there were a lot of players there - Flitters tinkered with it a bit. I owe Keith and Flitters a lot - my best football has always come under them two.'

 

It's a bit like buying a jigsaw puzzle.......Keith Hill bought it from the shop and opened it, sorted the corners and some of the side pieces.

Flicker came in, finished the side pieces and quicker than anyone thought, totally completed the jigsaw puzzle.

I can see why Perkins has a retrospective thought for Keith Hill and I respect him for that.

 

Is it just me that read that and worries he's on his way?

I think he ought to stay put. Unless a Prem club fancies him.

 

It didn't sound like an overwhelming commitment to a BFC future

 

Think you could be right whitey. Sadly think a lot of teams would fancy him in their midfield. He's a £million+ player though so hope we get decent £££ if we do sell. And do it pre season so can replace him.

Would rather he stayed mind.

 

He's not a spring chicken anymore so I don't think we could demand a big fee for him. Unlike Vaz Te, I think it's worth us keeping him until his contract runs out rather than cashing in. Who knows, a top half finish, a new owner and we might become the sort of club he's hoping to join.

I can't see a prem club wanting him, not because he isn't good enough, but because he's getting on a bit.

 

I'm not worried Whitey....he will stay cos I dot think any Prem club would think he is good enough at that level.

Top end Championship sides, with better contracts than BFC.......maybe?

I have a feeling that Perkins knows he is probably playing at his peak years/club.......he is 30 now.

 

With Dawson and Etuhu, and young Digby in contention, you'd be forgiven for thinking we may be ok without him.

But I honestly think he's the one player I'd hate us to lose.

I love lots of them, and wouldn't like us to have to replace Mellis, Cranie or Steele either. But how many Perkins type players do you know of out there?


If he left, and to a Leeds or Wednesday I'd ****in' despise him, too.


Think on, Perkins. Think on.

 

One of the problems when you reach ~30 years of age and played most of your football at lower league level (on relatively lower wages) is that you will start to think you are in the "last chance saloon" for a decent contract.

Maybe Perkins is thinking this is his last chance to cash in?

Put yourself in this position........could you blame him?

 

He doesn't sound committed to staying with us but if he goes he should bring a million.

 

Exactly my thinking. I've never seen a player like him.

 

He's a good un.......that's for sure.

I actually think he's one of those players that has qualities that links extremely well with the BFC's "fabric".......battler, nev-say-die attitude, more skill than others give credit for, etc.

Leaving may be his biggest regret.......many examples we could all quote......

Agree fully.

Etuhu, Dawson and young Paul Digby all play vey similar anchor midfield positions.

That said.......I'd like to think Perkins continued to be a Tyke......he's been awesome for us.
