i'm sure a fee was agreed mario...until he kept us up and they realised how much we wanted him. whatever 'gentleman's agreement' was reached, you can bet your bottom dollar that fee has now gone up!

Funny interview with him after the Huddersfield game. When asked how it compares to his previous achievements he said he had been promoted before with Rochdale but this is better.

    no mention promo with Wednesday

Sounds acceptable to me.....been good for BFC on his loan spell.

Personally, would not pay more than £300K in today's transfer climate.

Barnsley supremo Don Rowing has confirmed that the super reds are looking to bring in striker Chris O`Grady on a permanent deal.

Talks are yet to take place with Sheffield Wednesday and although the tykes are desperate to bring in O`Grady, Rowing says a deal will only be done at the right price.

O`Grady was pivotal to keeping Barnsley in the Championship with six goals following a loan move from Sheffield Wednesday and most reds fans would love to see him back at Oakwell on a permanent basis.

I remember COG saying that his loan to us was not with a view to a permanent

he's decided otherwise since, of course, but that tells me there wasn't anything in the original deal

They paid £350,000 - he's now got proven Championship experience but only a year on his contract...I'd say £500,000 is fair. We got £300,000 for Craig Davies and even though he's not as good a finisher as him he offers a lot more in a game...go in with 350 but be prepared to pay 500.

According to the managers secretary at Hillsbrough it is !!. I delivered some stuff there last week and she reckons he is coming to Oakwell for £300k , because O`Grady has upset most of the Weds squad !

According to Radio Sheffield last week Wed.paid no where near £300k which is the figure bandied about. The way the reporters spoke about it made me feel they'ed paid no more than £100k.

You wouldn't pay more than 300k for the best striker we've had in years?

Fair enough, although he was doing well for Rochdale so 100k would have been giving him away - maybe their board are like ours and see a big number and can't resist.

Still think £500,000 and below is a good deal considering we banked £300,000 from Davies and it's a fairly low risk investment - we know what he's capable of and we know he fits into the team. Not often you can say that before a transfer.

Just hope it's not another Nardiello scenario - in my memory he was amazing on loan and then amazingly inconsistent once he'd signed permanently!

    Correct......£300K is my maximum.

COG has been very good, he's also had some poor games.......and this reflects his inconsistency which has been with him through his career.

Maybe Flicker will improve this, but I still say £300K is what we should be prepared to pay and no more (remembering he is not wanted at SWFC, so fee should not be exaggerated).

    13 appearances, 6 goals and 5 assists.

I'd love to know who we're going to get thats better.

If we can get him for £300k then great - but refusing point blank to pay anymore than that would be ridiculous.
