With the importance of the Champion's League and Premier League, it's a tragedy that people take the cup for the granted. We are so lucky in this country to have the best knockout competition in the world bar none. I'll take Oldham v Liverpool over two European sides in the Champion's League every day of the week.
I've no interest in a quarter past five kick off. While it's on i'll probably catch up with the episodes of Season 2 of Storage Wars Texas that i've still to watch from the History channel.
I don't even understand why it's a 5:15pm kick off given that all but one Premier League game is being played tomorrow and that one kicks off at 12:45.
Copied and pasted from Burnley Mad but just about sums up todays cup final. !973...up at 6am excited at the day ahead. It's A Cup Final Knockout with the late great Eddie Wareing and another bloke Goal Of The Season...was it Micky Walsh's left foot curler that aeason? The Road to Wembley In the team hotels as they leave. The build up - Ed Stewart, the Band of the Royal Marines and Abide with Me. The might leeds against a team managed by a guy with red trackies and a trilby Porter field...one nil !!!!!!!! Montogomerie's miraculous save. The result that just couldn't happen Post match interviews, socks around ankles, conical milk bottles 2013 Another televised game when I'm eating my tea
Unfortunately, no other countries in Europe value their cup competitions. Otherwise, we might still have the Cup-Winners cup. And it was usually one of the few games that was televised live. Now, we have 4 or 5 games a week live. And I think it will continue to decline, much as the League cup has.
Agreed. Playing the cup final while the league season is still going on is utterly ridiculous and devaluing to the competition. Whoever made that decision should hang their head.
The real pity is that the FA and TV have been allowed to devalue everything that was once special about the FA cup. It used to be the greatest cup competition in the world but those days are gone.
Its because Champions League final is at Wembley. That and the season lasting longer. Strange how a 42 game season could start on August bank hol weekend and be finished in time for cup final on first Sat in May!
It was the same last year wasn't it? It's total ballax, the FA Cup Final must take place after the regular league season has finished. Used to be such a special day, I remember the first one I ever watched was Coventry v Spurs in 1987. What a game.
