Not much been made of his performances in 2nd half of season, probably through shame of the amount of stick certain fans gave him.

Think back to Xmas game against Blackburn, having a mare, feeling the pressure (as the ex Rochdale gang were) terrible mistake for a goal and withdrawn at halftime. Never to be seen again, Blackpool talks still alive, last appearance in a red shirt?

No chance, Flicker takes over and gradually the performances come back. Finds himself back in the position he started he season, where may I add he was excellent early season, centre half. Shuffled around over coming weeks to play wing back, right side of a three and in a two at back.

For me the turning point was MK away, his majestic run and pull back showed a player in new confidence and enjoying his football. As injuries ate away at the team, it was his performances with Craine and centre half in the final 10 games which blew me away. His reading of the game, distribution, pace, and mopping up at the back was first rate.

It's a team effort, but anybody who travelled to Palace and Forest will tell of heroic defensive performances from Scott, Cranie and Steele which gave us priceless points.

In summary what a turn around, by rights he should never have recovered from the barrage of abuse, but he did. He proved his has bigger balls and tougher mental capacity than any of the chimps who constantly abused him.

Well done Scott Wiseman, great turn around, and a key player in our great escape.

Couldn't have said it better. The Palace game was the best I saw him play in a reds shirt (technically a Palace shirt!)

There have been hundreds of threads on it. It's probably been the most talked about topic on this BBS.

To be fair, I think everyone has acknowledged that he has done very well since Flicker took over.

He's gone from a player that some people were happy to drive to Blackpool, into one that they would be sad to see leave.

Along with Cranie, Mellis, Steele, Etuhu and Perkins, he's one of the players I would really like to see stay.

He's been getting plaudits on here for weeks now and rightly so as his transformation since Xmas has been nothing short of spectacular.

I was hoping that a round of "There's only one Scott Wiseman" would start during the celebrations at Huddersfield last week. It would have summed up the turnaround and would I'm sure have left Scott realising that he's back in the fold proper.

At first I never thought he was as bad as some people made out, but at one point I did start to doubt his performances but never abused him. Then we were told about the death of a close family member that had affected him badly, and how he was told to stop at home until he felt better only to turn up on Sat morn begging to play, having a mare and getting dogs abuse. When I read about his problems I felt embarassed for the abuse he got and so sorry for him, nobody should suffer that. I have got nothing but total respect for the lad, the way he has dealt with it and turned his performances round is astonishing, he could have shrunk away and left but he has shown a strength of character that people should respect.

Scott Wiseman should be an example to anyone who is having a bad spell........you can come through it a better player.

He's been excellent in the relegation-saving run in.

FFS..............every foooker is a fan of Wiseman now !!!

...............it wern't that long ago when there was only me and maybe Tyrone that were singing his praises.............which we got some stick for at the time......watter off a ducks back like, but you know what I mean

It was plain to see that this guy was a footballer.............but he wasn't being given a chance by Barnsley fans
He was dominating reputably excellent strikers..........mainly because Wiseman could give them a yard start to the ball and still beat them to it

My only concern about Wiseman and this applies to all the rest of the Barnsley defence is when they come up against a very tall strong old fasioned type of centre forward.
That is when they struggle.............hence the need for a tall comanding centre back for this coming season

Flicker is getting the best out of him.

Areas he needs to improve on are aerial ability and to keep fully switched on for the 90+ mins.

Both these areas he got badly wrong in first half of season and that's why he was lambasted......as was Keith Hill for his continued selection when playing poorly.

    Huddersfield's second goal anyone.

Where he inexplicably ran across to Cranie when who was already challenging for the ball thus leaving the wide open space for their player to run through and score. I still don't rate Wiseman that highly as he hasn't done enough to convince me he can play consistently at a required standard. Having said that, since he returned to the team he has played ok for most of the time, good on occassions, and really well in a couple of games. Which is no different from most of his team mates.
Whilst ever he is playing he will get my support like the other players and I sincerely hope he will show next season that he has at last reached the required standard.
I do believe that most of the previous criticism (not character assasination and personal attacks) of his performances prior to his latest return to the team was justified and fair. If/when Scott does play well next season and beyond, in no way will it nullify or make unfair any criticism of his earlier performances.

It was Cranie that ran across to challenge for the ball Wiseman was jumping for!

Cranie has obviously been told that his job is to challenge the ball in the air with Wiseman dropping and tidying up afterwards. Cranie had far too far to come then though and should have left it to Wiseman.

I've not seen the footage of it yet, but it looked like Wiseman from where I was stood. But I'll take your word for it.The rest still stands though early criticsm justified, done well since he returned to side.
    here's hoping anyway.
