I appreciate the talent of the singers but really, is there any need to do a rendition that just makes it impossible for the fans to sing along? Another FA cup tradition ruined for me.
Agreed It sounded feckin awful. Also the singing of a national anthem. Never understood that one. Celebrating a bunch of non elected parasites who live off of us and give nothing back in return. Sod that. Used to love shouting it down at Scotland games. Got my tin hat firmly on. LOL.
to be honest Fi, you are missing a bigger point ...if I may and no I aint going at you love. For me the bigger point is that the WHOLE of football has sold its soul to the money men...tradition is out the window. There was a time when the football season ALL kicked off on the same day. There was a time when the week-end fixture were ALL at 3PM. there was a time when the FA Cup final was the final game of the English season and the Charity shield heralded the start of the new season. There was also a time when we ALL could watch our National side on TV. But then along came SKY.... and all that was thrown away. Do not ever mention SKY TV and tradition in the same sentence. I hope that self centered money grabbing bastad that spawned SKY will get his willy caught in his zip for eternity, and that his next **** is a hedgehog.
I said the same thing to the missus. Why the powers that be think that what footy fans want are some opera singers singing the songs seemingly to a different tune than we all know is beyond me. The only 'entertainment' warranted at a football match, besides the football itself, is a brass band or, at Oakwell, the wheeling out of ex-players (particularly if they are as cool as Rodger Wylde!).
Re: to be honest Fi, you are missing a bigger point ...if I may Agree with all that. Cup final day used to be magical.
Re: to be honest Fi, you are missing a bigger point ...if I may we didnt get any singing over here just warren barton mumbling on. and adverts galore.
My first cup final was 1974 and Bruce Forsyth stood on a white rostrum and sang abide with me.How times have changed.
It's the ENGLISH FA Cup final, we should sing Jerusalem & Abide with me and it should be a 3pm kickoff and played at the end of the season when all league games have ended. Give the game back to the fans
Spot on Dont care what nationality is singing - as long as its done in a way thats leading the fans so they can sing along
Dunt bother me who sings it as long as it's not sung in a classical manner & the fans can sing along to it.
No place for religious songs at a secular event. As for the national anthem - something that doesn't exist being asked to save something that shouldn't exist. Shoddy lyrics.
