Butts I don't think would come back. He hasn't yet had his shot at the PL.

Hammill on the other hand I think is very realistic now. Is he going to get another offer to play in the Champ?

While I think they are both top players, I think we're more in need of a centre half. That's the main priority for me.

Butterfield on loan would be good providing he's fit, competition for Mellis. Hammill wouldn't fit into a 3-5-2 and his wages may be a problem for us. But if he was as good for as us as he was before he left then you can't say no.

**** me, I'd forgotten just how good Hammill was. Surely if anyone can rescue his career Flicker can?

I do think hamills the more realistic one, cant see any other champs club going for him, but i also feel a cb is our priority at the moment

    Re: where is Hammill now

Yes, a year left on his contract I think. He will have had two consecutive pay cuts as well I reckon, bringing him down closer to our price range. He might be a more relevant player to Wolves in league one though, if their big players ship out.

Bring back Glavin, Redfearn and McCarthy campaign

only brought back Glavin for half-a-dozen games before he scarpered again. Not much of a success really I suppose.....

Re: Bring back Glavin, Redfearn and McCarthy campaign

It's a bit ironic - Hammill leaving to play PL football with wolves, and ends up going down twice with them now risking L1 football, if no one comes in for him.

Even though he might not fit in a 3-5-2, we do seem to play four at the back at times as well, which means there might be room for him in midfield four.

I'm sure he would give us something extra, so I'd love him back.

If Flicker wants them then that will do for me. If not, that will also do for me.

They were both great in their time with us. Like previous posters I think Butterfield will still think he's got a chance at Norwich with a full pre-season behind him. Hammill is a different story and I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to rejoin us. His performance at home to Dirty Leeds when he had a hand in all five goals was something else. I remember travelling to Portman Road and saying to the Ipswich supporting mate I was with that they would have to stop Hammill cutting in from the left and hitting one from 25 yards with his right foot. That's exactly what he did in the first half to put us 2-0 up. He had many more decent games than bad ones for us and, whilst he might not fit into a 3-5-2, he'd give us a great option in a 4-4-2 which, let's not forget, we've also used a number of times under Flicker (through choice or otherwise).

I'd take Hammill but on our terms this time (no clauses) but no thanks to Butterfield.
