I can't see anyone being on more than 3k a week. Not a fact just my assumption on the way the club is run.Don't forget some of our players came from clubs who probably don't pay more than 7/8 hundred pounds a week,so they might have come for a grand a week. The more established players like Steele,Hassel etc I would imagine no more than 2/3k a week.

I remember andy gray being on £10k a week when he was with us, and I don't think he was even our top earner. I think you'd be suprised

Our top earners will be on more like 5k but I reckon 2/3k will be pretty close to the average.

Don't think so but not gonna argue seeing as neither of us knows. The wages are in the accounts though so rough sums can be done.

    Steele.

We don't spend enough on wages to have 10k players. It just doesn't add up.

The average weekly wage of a Championship player in the 2009/10 season was £4059. I'd imagine the average has gone a fair bit, probably to around £7000 - £8000.

We'll have one of, if not the lowest wage budget in the league, so I'd be surprised if the £10000, that some people mention, is realistic.

You think it will have doubled in the last 3 years? I would doubt that.

With more and more foreign owners coming into the English football, and chucking silly amounts of money at it, I'd say yes.

The average in the 2007/08 season (two seasons before the one I mentioned previously) was £2621..

Every chance that it has, considering the number of clubs drawing parachute payments.

No way has anyone earned a basic 10k a week at Oakwell, ever. Ashley Ward was openly offered that to stay and that would have made him the highest earner by some margin. This was at a time that £1m footballers were not uncommon at Oakwell and we have not been anywhere near as high spending since.

I think Andy Gray might have been top earner at one point but 5-6 would be nearer the mark. People are not quite getting the idea of basic pay and bonuses either.

It was the 7-8k salaries that sent us into administration after losing the ITV money. Why would any subsequent owner go down that same route and pay wages that we couldn't afford then?
