if Wednesday are daft enough to turn down really good money for shirt sponsorship, Barnsley should be on the blower offering them a package to be our main club sponsor if there offering good money take it, if people are that stupid to use these pay day loans it there own fault, full your transfer pot with there money don
What a horrible statement. These companies bleed money from the vulnerable and northern towns have plenty who fall into this category. Why should our football club, or Sheffield Wednesday for that matter, help to facilitate this to line our own pockets? Not a chance
give a couple of month and Wednesday fans will be moaning about the lack of transfer activity, and having to do everything on the cheap and so will our lot, you can't have it both ways, at the end of the day most people who get them sort of loans watch day time tv 5 days a week so they know where to go anyway, there no different to them begging adverts wanting £3 a week out of ya to save some plants and **** fly in jungle, some thick B'astard are giving them money they can't afford as well but no one says a thing about that, fools and there money are easily parted someone's going to take it from them why not Barnsley FC
These companies trade on peoples misery...wouldn't want them anywhere near us....Well done Wednesday!!!
On your own there, I think. But as I said yesterday, it could be argued that high street bookie/online betting sites are just as exploitative and predatory. I don't think that money will be declined any time soon.
If the club are looking to be a community club, a family club, then they shouldn't be accepting sponsorship money from companies like these. Yes, what the companies are doing is legal, they advertise their rates so it's not as though people don't know (or at least they have the info to know) what they are getting into, but they are explotative companies and I think would attract bad publicity and PR for the club. I also think the same about betting companies as sponsors and also alcohol companies.
Interestingly I see no one has mentioned or made a fuss about Hull city being sponsored by Cash Convertors. You know the pawn shop which offers pay day loans that make Wonga seem cheap and ethical. Or will blatantly rip you off for the goods you sell/pawn. As much as I dislike pay day loan companies Wonga are one of the better companies to use if you need to go down this route. Because of their high profile they do get a lot of unfair press thrown their way as a number of other payday loan companies are horrific in how they conduct business hence the investigations by the OFT. If your going to take the moral high ground with one company then you need to with the others. I also see that no one has mentioned the likes of bright house and perfect home if you want to mention companies that also target the vulnerable members of society.
People need educating about Credit Unions etc. But, we have a very high cost of living, we live in an extremely materialistic society, status driven, so this is where we end up.
