The most nervous Theo Walcott has ever been apparently. No wonder England never win anything, when we reward failure as highly as we do. Parachute payments etc. Winning at Man City earned Norwich an extra four million. Scandalous.
I remember, just two weeks ago, celebrating 21st place like we'd won the cup. We went menckle. I finally sobered up sometime Monday afternoon.
Do you know what mate, I don't think I would. Genuinely. Absolutely no affinity with morons earning gross sums of money. The best thing about this year has been the connection with the players. That would cease to exist.
If the reds got to the premier league i would reward the players that got us there and keep them for the full premiership season. I wouldn't dump them and then spend money trying to stay there. Collect the parachute money and pay Patrick what we owe him. Then start the cycle all over again, Play the system i say.
Me too. If we were ever promoted I'd be made up but I won't lose any sleep if we stay in the championship. I hate the premier league and everything it stands for.
Inflated ticket prices, kick off times shifted all over the place, only 19 games on yer season ticket, watching nancy boys dive and cheat every week - what's to like?
If I thought the Premier League was based on merit I would. It's based on money and refs who are too close to the bigger clubs. We'd be bollocksed. It'd be Biblical if we got up and Flicker and the M's brought last season's effort and unity to the Prem.
I agree with that. But a team in the championship would not celebrate a 4th place finish. Staying in the Championship and the way we did it was an outstanding achievement done with hard work, pride and passion. The Premier league is all about the big boys and the obscene amounts of money thrown at them from Sky.
Leicester celebrating finishing 6th.
I know this may sound insane but by some miracle we ever did get to the Premier League in the mid to long term it would do more harm to the club than good.
Just like last time when it started us on the road to Admin and too long in the Ale House League... That now makes me want to start a successful pub chain company called "Ale House" and sponsor League 1 with it.
I don't know what you're getting at. Of course they would celebrate a 4th place finish, or any playoff spot. We celebrated finishing 21st more than we might have done usually because we were dead and buried at one point. Was it 7 points adrift that we were? After losing at Spurs, Arsenal were 7 points behind them with 10 games to go. Are you saying that they shouldn't celebrate making it into the champions league?
Money is ruining football. In the 70s and 80s the league winners played in the European cup. Whoever won the cup back then was the best of the best. Now it is just diluted down for the tv companies.
