He mentioned on radio dee darr about Donny having unrealistic aims for the Premier league which is fair enough and why not. then he says smaller clubs than Donny have done it and mentions Blackpool. I don't think Donny are a bigger club than Blackpool. You would've thought he would've learned his lesson after his ridiculous comments following their last promotion and the ample amounts of humble pie he had to eat. Not only about us, but the "we're a bigger club than Ipswich" comment. The last time they come up to this division it was the first time in over 50 years and the times only got anywhere near 12000 was when there was a large away following. I can see him eating large amounts of humble pie again. Here's hoping.
Doncaster are the smallest club in South Yorkshire. They are not bigger than Ipswich, Blackpool or even Bournemouth. Perhaps on a par with Yeovil, though. Good luck to them in their Premier League promotion campaign.
We as Barnsley fans moan as a club we have no ambision what so ever .... even flicker was frustrated to hell about the clubs mental thinking so personally im not going to slate a chairman whos own money has bankrolled the club for years actually having some ambision and wanting his club to move forward
I know the club really well, I also have dealing with DRFC in another business, I can't knock the chairman for what he wants to do with the club, good luck
I'm not slating his ambition or whatever else he's done for the club. I'm simply pointing out the fact that he seems to want to talk about Donny as being a bigger club than certain other clubs amongst other ridiculous comments and it coming back to bite him on the arse like it did on a few occasions last time. Why doesn't he just get on with praising his own club and leave other clubs out of it? He said himself he was bitterly dissapointed with their attendances.
Good luck to him and Donny but i did hear him say last week that "we" have got transfer targets "we" need to sort out and of course the managers position to sort out and whoever he is might not share the same thoughts.
The fact our board uses the small club tag to hide a lack of forward thinking irritates me more tbh let him say what he wants
I repeat, I'm not knocking his ambition or whatever he has done for the club. he just needs to show a little more respect to other teams and think about all the humble pie he's had to eat previously.
' We are a small club, at least in the Championship. It was our previous manager that talked about the haves and have nots in this division and how we shouldn't be able to compete at this level with our resources.
I can't fault what he's saying. Must be nice for their fans to hear the club owner and figurehead coming out and being positive about the future of the club and even though what he says is quite silly at least he's being openly ambitious and not just seeing 4th bottom as an achievement.
hasn't what Flicker has said about his meeting/s with Patrick Cryne and how he wants things changing make you more optimistic for next season at least? I'm feeling very optimistic.
this arguement bores me to tears we as a clubs are one of the longest serving second tier clubs in country..... You dont HAVE to be a big club to have forward thinking or dreams... id love for our chairman to be positive etc as hopefully then itll show in the signings the advertising the ticket prices etc and it wasnt just HILL that went on about it.. the things he stated were coming from the pressures above hill was negative ill admit but so were the people above him... same reason as to why robins left Although the slightly better rumblings from camp oakwell and the fact flicker heard what he wanted was a good sign and im alittle more boyed for the new season
Nothing against John Ryan. But he does have a habit of talking absolute ***** when his club is on the up. You never hear a peep out of him when they're on the decline, though. Each to their own, but I'd find it quite embarrassing if our owner/chairman etc, decided to proclaim us as bigger than clubs we've hardly had the opportunity to compete against. Check Doncaster's history out. The most irrelevant South Yorkshire club out there. But fair play to them over the last 10 years, it's been their most successful era (which says it all). *I feel like a Wednesdayite...
3 threads today going on about Donny! We are turning into Wednesday! He talks his club up, it's what you expect a chairman to do, I doubt he cares a jot what Barnsley fans think, or fans of other clubs for that matter, he's doing it for the Donny fans. No, they aren't bigger than Blackpool but ground size they are pretty much on a par so therefore matchday income will be similar which is probably what he's getting at. That clubs with smaller resources can get up but he doesn't think it's a realistic target. But I'd like our board to state that we'd like a push for the playoffs and that it's not behold the realms of possibility rather than just saying that 4th bottom is success.
At least it would be better half time entertainment
