Adam Le Fondre (goal every 137mins) and Daniel Sturridge (goal every 121mins). Yet who's betting come the two friendly games which are coming up, that any 2 from Rooney, Welbeck and Carroll start up front. Coincidentally, Frank Lampard (goal every 136 mins) has the 2nd highest GPM ratio of English players in the PL. It's in friendly games such as the 2 coming up that England should be giving the likes of Sturridge and Le Fondre a go, yet I reckon Sturridge will be on the bench and ALF hasn't even received a call up.
Le Fondre stat is even more impressive when you consider he was playing for the second worst side in the league, and probably doesnt have prem clubs queing up for him I agree its worth a pop in a friendly and see how he looks - its not as if we are blessed with world class English strikers at the moment. I'd definitely give Sturridge a start
Think Sturridge should get a more permanent place. It's abit of a joke that welbeck is chosen over him all te time. With welbeck scoring only 1 PL goal all season
Good stats them, but I wouldn't pick Adam Le Fondre. I don't think he's anywhere near good enough for international football. I felt the same about Grant Holt last season when he scored 15 Premier league goals, 3 more than Le Fondre. Daniel Sturridge is a different kettle of fish altogether. I didn't think much of him when he was at Man City and Chelsea, but since his transfer to Liverpool he's looked outstanding. He looks a real star.
Rooney is *****. When was th elast time he actually did anything of any merot for England? Welbeck isn't up to much either. Its surprising how poor the Engand team is and has been for a while.
No way should ALF get picked. He's gone for some top top players. Firstly to these having ago at Welbeck he's bee playing wide and doing a role for the team. They are happy with him at Old Trafford and that says a lot realy when they can go out and get pretty much 95% of players if they wanted. If you do want to start and talk about goals which i don't think personally I do then Welbecks got 5 for England in 16 and Sturridge 1 goal in 5 or 6 games. personally i think they should go Welbeck and Rooney against Ireland on the 29th and maybe Carroll and Rooney against Brazil. if goals were the massive thing Lukaku would be Chelseas best striker for next season and seen as better than Ba and Torress. That's rubbish, Romelu's a good player but not better than those too and that's why he was loaned out and they brought in Ba and kept Torress.
this England team that beaten some very good teams in the last 12 month. This England teams lost a game in 90 minutes once (Sweden) in how long?
Torres is a busted flush, Welbeck and Rooney are over-rated and would be nowhere near the England team if they played for an 'average' club.
Well if we're talking about what players do other than score goals. I'd love to know how many assists Hernandez and RVP have got compared to Rooney and Welbeck. Hernandez was top on the list of goals per minutes on the pitch too by the way, a goal every 103 minutes.
Rooney's assists are the most by a Manchester united player. After a champions league game RVP talked about his goals an said how good Rooney was for him in helping him to score. He said it's something thats important to the Manchester united team and also said that he needed to improve in that department According to that (sorry link below) Rooneys Ratio's one of the best and looking at (again link below) maybe the best in the league but it only shows you the top 20. http://www.teamtalk.com/premier-league/top-assists
He's not going to say "he's a useless over-rated tossbag" is he. I think considering the money that Shrek earns the least he can do is help to score a few goals.
Strange, I don't see Welbeck on that list. Surely "doing his role out wide" should include a fair few assists?
Scored in his last appearance for England in the 1-1 draw with Montenegro in the world cup qualifiers. And in the game before that, the 8-0 victory over San Marino in the world cup qualifiers. And in the game before that, the 2-1 friendly victory over Brazil. 3 goals in 3 England appearances in 2013. In 2012 he scored 4 goals in 5 appearances. In 2011 2 goals in 5 appearances. So that's 9 goals in his last 13 internationals. 2010 was a lean year for him, with just one goal in 11 internationals. However, in the three years prior to that, 2007-2009, he scored 13 goals in 21 internationals. So, even with barren run in 2010, he's scored 23 goals in his last 45 games for England at a rate of better than a goal every two games, which is a phenomenal strike rate at international level. In my humble opinion that's not *****.
Looking at the stats, that really does pose the question again, what exactly does Danny Welbeck do to get in the England squad ahead of the likes of Daniel Sturridge, 2 goals and 4 assists in 40 games compared to Sturridge's 11 goals and 3 assists in 16 games for Liverpool. Interestingly too, Liverpool have won more games with Suarez out of the side than with him in it, which again proves to me that Sturridge has had an impact on them in the back end of the season, for me based on form, he's the top England striker.
I'll rephrase what I said then; When was the last time Rooney did anything for England in an important international competition?
When was last time Wayne was fully fit and able to participate from game one? the future england all time goal scorer **** LOL ROLf. Thats like Calling Ali Cook ****. Talking of someone who said something similar about Cook. Wonder if DeeTee had times to reply to my post yet.
We really are in a poor state regarding strikers. Worst I've ever known. In Alfie's defence, he has scored goals against the league's best defenders, many of them internationals. With better service and a good centre forward like Carroll, it may well pay off.
