IMO a very tight game. So much so I would not be surprised if after 90 mins it was 0-0. Bayern to win AET.
Had a chance to see the champions league trophy at the weekend (was in Stratford as part of some festival)... just couldn't be bothered. Just isn't football.
No point watching it cause German football's rubbish...and they never do owt in Europe anyway so they'll still be playing into next week!
Goodness me, one year and all of a sudden there the best thing. when they start doing it like the English clubs and Spainish clubs have for the last 8/9 years then you can start saying things like that. Broussia are this year villarreal
This is Bayern's fourth final since winning it in 2001. That is more than any other side, including Barca (3 but all wins), Real Madrid (2 wins), Manchester Utd (3, 1 win) or Chelsea (2, 1 win). That arguably makes them the most consistent side in Europe this millennium. Outside them, Leverkusen and Dortmund have both been finalists, which puts Germany (3 club sides) level with Italy (Inter, AC Milan and Juventus), Spain (Real, Barca and Valencia) in the same period. England is top with four (Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal) in the final. Schalke have also been semi-finalists. Its fair to say that German clubs *have* been doing it over the last 8/9 years, its just that the news hasn't reached Hemsworth yet.
You do realise don't you, that Borussia Dortmund won this competition in 1997? They defeated Juventus (including Zidane and Del Piero etc) 3-1. They also went on to be crowned World Club Champions. They lost to Juventus in the UEFA Cup Final of 1993, too. They won back to back Bundesliga titles in 1995/1996. Their star player, Matthias Sammer was named European Footballer of the Year for 1996. He went on to become manager, and guided BvB to another Bundesliga title. They also reached another UEFA Cup Final, again losing, this time to Feyenoord. They finished runners-up in the Bundesliga this season, having won back to back titles previously. Their stadium is renowned worldwide as one of the best, bigger than any English club stadia. And regularly full, with a wall of noise that the likes of Man Utd and co could never replicate. I have stated all the above in an attempt (however vain) to show you that Dortmund are a force in World/European football, a giant if you will. To compare them to Villareal is like comparing Danny Welbeck to Dennis Law. *I don't need to show you how huge Bayern Munich are, do I?
