Lots of WWE stars mentioning it including England's own diva Paige.....

It must have been awesome fun back in pre kayfabe days to be an heel in the wrestling business. I imagine for him he'd have needed police protection regularly from wrestling fans.

it were proper Mesters wrestling back then matey, non of yer lycra and stuff...

one or two had gimmicky stuff. Kendo Nagasaki used to come on dressed in a full Kendo uniform. Johnny Quango came on in African tribal gear, Masambula another African bloke. Then there was Billy Two Rivers an American Indian. Jackie Pallo with his Lurrvely Pony tail. But so much more humour in it all back then...wonderful stuff... Satdi tea time... ish Kent Walton commentator brilliant stuff.

Re: A legend RIP Mick, I will allus remember...

Until Vince Mcmahon came out and called Wrestling "sports entertainment" to get around tax laws to do with sports so he could pay less, people didn't know about kayfabe and thought what they saw was all real. Jim Cornette was such an hated heel manager and told many stories. Here is a bit from the Wiki page for Jim Cornette......

I can imagine Mick McManus probably had to be careful as well. Much different to these days where it's actually more cool to cheer for the heels and boo the babyface guys.

His weak spot was his ears. Twist his ears and he was in agony, Kellet knew about this chink in his armour and often exploited it.

Did anyone ever get to take Kendo Nagasaki's mask off?

And Leon Arris was definitely not from Paris.
