I wasn't putting him forward as a recruit, I'll leave Flicker to his job. I just found it on their forum and thought it was newsworthy. And as DT says, the cost-cutting begins.
I'd be surprised if they let him go, as would their fans by the looks. Bit far fetched for us I would think. Interesting that one of them thinks he's too slow - can't remember him being slow!? In any case, if we could recruit him, it would be a fantastic signing imo. Yes it's difficult to see where we could fit him in to the current midfield of Perks/Etuhu/Mellis but quality players are always welcome - competition for places and everything.
I'd take all 7... Flicker would get the best out of them. Sadly we couldn't afford them. If possible I would push to sign St. Ledger, Danns, Paul Gallager and Martyn Waghorn... St Ledger is just what we need at the back. Gallagher is creative and provide top quality set piece from memory. And Waghorn is energetic forward who has bags of potential but has lost his way type of project flicker thrives with... And Danns has flare and goals from midfield
Happy Fox - "We need money it is as simple as the that" Do they not think they've spent enough already?
I'd take any of them to be honest. Can we afford any of them, that's another question. People have been banging on about Butterfield but I think i'd rather have Drinkwater back over the 2.
One of my Leicester mates says Drinkwater is getting a lot of stick there. Their player of the year til the turn of the year and has completely gone off the boil with many fans solely blaming him for the teams poor form. Seems very harsh as they expect him to be a matchwinner and creative influence which he isn't. I thought losing Butterfield was a bigger blow than Drinkwater. I liked Drinkwater and thought the balance of him, Butterfield and Perkins was really good. But we've moved on and I see Dawson, Etuhu, Perkins as being just as able if not more so. And don't forget Digby if/once he overcomes his growing pains.
I'd have him back in a shot. Quality player. Plus given Dawson will be suspended for half the season, Perkins has (historically) had hamstring problems, and Kelv goes and gets himself knocked out in FA Cup matches we need strength in depth. Plus we run our blood to water in games and if we're going to keep that up all year we'll need to rotate a bit.
I think he is a good player and as good if not better than perks Dawson and kelvin. But would be a waste of money to bring him in imo. Our midfield is strong enough I think. We need a solid centre half, a proper winger and a striker
To be able to afford him even if he takes a massive paycut we'd probably have to sell both Perkins and Dawson to accomodate him.
Drinkwater was outstanding with us and a key factor in our drop in form when he left. Busy midfielder who would fit our style to a tee alongside Perkins, Dawson, O'Brien and so on. I would be in like a shot there and am sure he would come, given the right deal. Of the others, I would have Waghorn, along we have just got Scotland on a year's contract and Gallagher is also quality. I would not have St. Ledger at any price, even though we need a central defender.
