Just seen it on sky sports rolling news says former man utd director Maurice Watkins to take up new role as Barnsley chairman next week.
FANTASITIC APPOINMENT ex director at utd and big name in rugby league he has contacts sport knowledge ... think it would move us on alittle
His CV does look extremely good and story is plausible as its no secret that Don has been planning to retire but lets wait until we have a bit of corroboration Strange the story is on sky but no where else
just seen it now on sky sports news on the rolling news, great stuff for the reds onwards and upwards a guy with great knowledge and legal connections can only be goo for the reds #newera
Re: may get a few Man Utd youngsters on loan then I feckin hope so. I may get a season ticket at this rate, Flicker walking on water, atmosphere at the games again and a change in the boardroom.
If that's true it's a great appointment. He's got a CV that will bring plenty to our table and more connections than Heathrow. If that happens I can honestly say season ticket decision made after years of absence.
Commercially, we may see our advertising, box sales etc take a massive leap forwards. Superb appointment.
The man who appointed Sir Alex... http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...news/expert-view-with-maurice-watkins-3811114
Must say I've never heard of him but just read up and he doesn't seem like the sort of person who just wants to go through the motions. Definitely the sort of leadership we need and no doubt has some good connections for bringing in the investment that Cryne and Rowing have failed so badly with, although I accept that is a difficult task at Barnsley given that so much investment would be needed to make a difference!
Can't find any actual printed news of it but he does have history with us from Morgangate: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ction-Sheffield-Uniteds-Morgan-foul-Hume.html
