*David Flitcroft *We've seemingly got a decent bloke onto the board. *We've got TK and YayaTutu tied down until 2015. The latter is a big signing already. *Jason Jason is still here. Guaranteed 10 goals right there. *Golbourne will be like a new signing. Reight laiker. *According to the club season tickets are selling very well. *It's only £23 on a matchday, at the most. No membership ********. *Bobby will stay because he's a legend. *Alnwick isn't as bad as folk make out. Was highly rated like Steele when younger. *COG hates Wednesday. So even if he dunt come back here, he'll do **** al for them. *Wednesday will get relegated next season. *Wednesday are basterds. *We get to beat Doncaster again. Twice. *Scott Wiseman will be player of the year next season. *The new era will see us extending the contracts of our better players - Mellis, Perks, Daws, Dags etc. *The Don is still here. *Mickey and Martin (and the other staff) are still here. *Matt Bailey and Adam Brammer are the best commentary team you could wish for. *The West Stand, it's bogs, and a new fanzine on it's way. *We'll get Rochdale or Hartlepool in the League Cup. *David Flitcroft.
Bad points is Anlwick's nickname is Calamity. How much money do u have to spend to replace Steele, basically a player we already have. Why downgrade and spend more money to replace a player we have? But, I'm convinced Flickers will sort it all out.
If we sign a new keeper it will be someone like former Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee, Free agent, Lower wages, former Rochdale player, meets all our criteria.
Alnwick isn't nearly good enough over a 46 game season. His kicking is as bad as Steele's and he's worse in every other area.
I'm sorry and people can say what they want about this comment but that's not true. he's a good kicker of the ball, hes a good puncher when needed and can match up and collect crosses. Back to is kicking, he's a very good kicker of the football and that's because he came through the Sunderland ranks with a number of top Dutch coaches and they rightly rate kicking a ball and distribution with saving shots and coming for crosses.
He's good and letting goals in through his legs and head butting strikers. Get rid, give Luke a pay rise.
also Steele is still open to negotiate he has been offered a contract. When you buy a house you make an offer, no way do go in right away with your best offer..... you HAGGLE. BARTER etc etc. We may let Luke go, we may let a few go from the retainee list. BUT we have set a budget and Flitcroft is good with it, he believes he can get a team together on that budget. We have a man who has wheeled and dealed in the Football for 28 years at Man Utd, I think we have a good prospect of making a few good signings through him and making sound contracts too. I think our future is very promising. Now I am not gonna say we are gonna be promo or Play off contenders, but I am thinking we aint gonna be strugglers again.
I agree with Hemsy. If I remember correctly, Alnwick's kicking and distribution was much better than Steele's. Steele is a great shot stopper though and if he was to leave, it is my belief that we'd miss him.
Alnwick's distribution is better than Steele's, plus he is more commanding. However Alnwick's shot stopping is nowhere near the standard of Steele's...
you could say that about most keepers including Steele Mr.C. Every keeper will make a mistake and i believe Ben did a lot right. I think he head butted him, not punched him.
Can I just say, this post was raised to discuss positive aspects of the forthcoming season. Not to give some lovely person yet another opportunity to spout the same vacuous $hit. Jesus.
I've got a semi on already at thoughts of the future. I agree with all of that except one point. Can anyone guess which one?
I find it hard to understand why all of a sudden there seems to be a growing point of view that Steele isn't very good and we'll be able to replace him easily. He's a quality keeper for our level and I do not believe for one minute that we'll get an equivalent or better keeper in to replace him if (when) he goes.
Alnwick's kicking is better than Steele's. But then again so is mine. Alnwick is not more commanding or better on crosses than Steele. Steele is a far better shot stopper than Alnwick and most other keepers in the Championship. Steele is by far the better keeper in my opinion and if he goes then we will be worse off in that position without him. However, if Alnwick is our keeper next season then he will get my full support unless he gets sent off in the last minute of a game almost costing us 90 mins of hard work for no apparent reason other then personal stupidty.
