I did it Saturday and enjoyed it especially Marsden stop and Stalybridge is like a step back in time but in a quaint/old fashioned way as it is a proper station platform pub with bags of character. It is quite heavily policed and the stag/hen groups and people having their first ever pint of alcohol are an embarrassment but i have been informed this type of behaviour is being dealt with and clamped down. Strongest ale i saw was in Huddersfield station at 7.6%. and dearest was this strawberry number in Stalybridge at £2.50 a half.
If you like good IPAs then you need to visit the USA,around here we have loads of micro brews, most of the IPAs are around 8% and taste fantastic.
heres a link to there beers. Flying dog brewery and some of the great names too. http://flyingdogales.com/beers/
Agree there are some great American beers , when I was last in America we drove from San Fransisco to San Diego on the coast road, had some top craft beer. Brewdog have taken up the craft ale mantle over here.
People seem to think that the USA is just Budweiser and Coors. As the people here say we send that to europe and keep the good stuff for ourselves.
Yep, drink it it all the time ,Torpedo being a favourite....Liberty Ale and Porter's another favourite, got a case of the Porter in the garage
Doing it tomorrow - friend's wife's birthday and that's what they've decided on. Should be a decent do and they've clamped down on the stag/hen parties.
Read this story in the paper this week about plastic cups and police on horseback making it seem like you are going to a football match when you get off the train so take it easy...... http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/loca...-by-mounted-police-in-marsden-86081-33482477/
I saw that. But also saw this To try and bring some order back and put the 'Ale' back in the Real Ale Trail from the 15th June on Saturdays we are stopping serving lager, shots & doubles, stag and hen parties or anyone in fancy dress between the hours of 12-8. http://www.realaletrail.net/ So hopefully that's got rid of the morons!
