Reading that Barnsley could be in for him. Well he would certainly be an asset infront of goal. Big and powerful and certainly knows where the goal is. My only concern would be his attitude. He had a good season last year but I did speak to a couple of Well supporters about him and they seemed to think he was lazy. If so them maybe he was only taking a game to get a transfer as he was out of contract. TBF anytime I've seen him he certainly looked the business. Managed to score plenty against United.
He scored quite a few at St Mirren too, I think he's a bit like Marmite. The 'Well fans certainly warmed to him last season though.
Personally I would prefer Jon Stead, tried and tested at this level, ran us ragged down at Ashton Gate last season.
Right, making an offer, then not hearing a dickie-bird... And then going public about a player we ain't signed...sumert seems not right to me... I don't think ill end up here....id guess a bit of a red-herring..and where looking elsewhere..
Ken something Spider I dinna think it's so much the player but the horrible scummy agents. We have a player, Jonny Russell who is out of contract and is interesting Derby. There have been discussions and I've heard a deal has been reached but as yet no confirmation from either club regarding fee. Seems strange. Again to me it looks as if the agent is stalling to see if he can get Jonny a better deal.
Always hard to judge players from the Scottish league but one thing's for sure if he was lazy at Motherwell he won't be here judging by the effort Flicker got the lads to play with from January to May.
I agree..we are and need 2 strikers in....Id say COG plus one other..will that be Higdon, my gut feeling would be no...and after hearing Don yesterday id also say that Stead is not on the top of our list either or the deal would be done.... Maybe someone who's still under the radar would be my guess...
I agree about agents totally Ian...but doesn't explain why we made an announcement about a player we my,or may not sign..I think through the soccer grapevine we know its not going to be here...and made the announcement 1..to give the fans sumert to chew on and 2 distract attention from someone else.... Just my oppionion
I'd be pleasantly surprised If we were to sign Higdon. Nor do I expect to see Stead or Donaldson being brought in. Hopefully, we can tie up a deal for O'Grady shortly and I believe we'll bring in another striker. I think the second forward will more likely be someone whose name has not been mentioned, as yet.
Re: I'd be pleasantly surprised One thing I personally wouldn't want to see is a young lad to come in from the prem, on a season long loan....cos I Don't think you've got to be an expert to see our own young lads....ie Danny Rose and the rest are not too far away...No point in hindering there progress, me thinks..
