This is a series I'm hearing so much about, I wish I'd watched it now, hopefully it will be repeated at some point

My girlfriend made me watch them on sky on demand a couple of months ago, and I became obsessed with it. Definitely worth watching, you find that nothing really of note happens for a few episodes and then something completely out of the blue happens, and changes the story completely.

I was pretty gobsmacked too. Even more so than when Wilko Johnson got his chopper out (calm down missus!) at the end of the first series and removed a key character's head.

Then again, I'd never read the Lord of the Rings books either, but decided to read each one in advance of the relevant film. So when they tacked the beginning of the second book at the end of the first film I didn't see that death coming.

I think it's the last Game of Thrones of the series next week and I'm still waiting for the white walkers to make a significant appearance. The way they closed the last series made me think they would play a major part in this series.

I knew that the Red Wedding was a pretty significant part of the plot from almost reading spoilers but I didn't expect anything as drastic as that to happen.

If anyone is thinking of watching GoT I'd definitely recommend it. By far the best thing on tv at the moment.

I've read them but watched it with someone who hadn't. It was brilliant watching the slow realisation of what was going on cross his face as (spoilers below, highlight to read):

They bolted the door, then the Rains of Castamere started, then Cat started sketching out a bit, then she saw the chain mail. At this point he just said "surely not..." and then **** went down.

Even knowing what was coming it was brutal, his wife's death was especially shocking given that she survives in the books.

    Ho ho

You've pretty much exactly described what we did a few months ago there.

Breaking Bad is just outstanding. We were watching about four episodes a day. Terrible carry on really. I wish I'd spaced them out a bit more now.

I thought Walking Dead had a slow Romero-cliched first series but got better and better after that. Who knew Egg from This Life would be handy with a shotgun.

Yeah what a great and brutal twist. It's really freaked people out as well judging by the reaction on twitter.

How can the season finale live up to that?

    Re: Ho ho

Ive just downloaded and watched all the 3 seasons (so far) of Game of thrones in the last month or so. Breaking bad and Walking Dead are on the list for next ones to watch but which first?

    The books

Not read them myself. Was contemplating them but then the TV show appeared so didn't bother.

Is it right that the books each take a different story rather than flipping between them like the show? That's the impression I got but I didn't want to delve too deep for fear of spoilers. I can't imagine how that would work though.

I'd recommend the Robin Hobb books (Farseer trilogy, Soldiers Son) for similar capers.

Well it has maintained my interest.

Even had a good performance from a blade and that's something you don't hear very often nowadays. ;)

    Re: Ho ho

I would say Breaking bad, just in time for the final eight episode to be aired this summer.

I was totally hooked on Breaking bad, even watching them on netflix at work on my iphone. Walking dead is good but series 3 was a bit of a let down

    Those reactions

Were reminiscent of what happened on Monday night in Casa De Big Lil! Although the bit where Grey Wind the Direwolf was killed upset Laura the most.
You never saw scenes like those in Open All Hours!

Unless you have watched the program from the start then its a waste of time getting into it now...........basically because it has a complicated story line and there are so many characters within it

I haven't watched it from the start but others that live here have

Its not my cup of tea..........too sexualy explict..........and very brutal
For example.........last week two women were getting a bloke to have an erection before a couple of blokes stepped into the room and cut his **** off. This week a pregnant women was stabbed in the belly while her husband and others had their throats cut

And then people wonder why we have so many atrocities in the world!!!
In saying that the quality of the production is incredible and is similar to a feature film
