But to me these arent assets. On a two year contract who do you thinks worth the most in the barnsley team. At the moment barnsleys assets are Digby, RNL and cranie if he signs.
An asset is anything to a business which has value, and can be sold, such as stock, land, machinery, vehicles, etc etc. Barnsley FC's assets include the stadium, club shop stock, lindleys pies and any player we can make any money on. At the moment the players who aren't an asset are the ones out of contract, namely Steele, Cranie, Hassell, McNulty (i'm sure ive missed one{edit: Cywka}). So everyone else, 1 year contract or not, are assets.
I means big assets archey. People are going on about two players and been assets. If they were on a two year contract we'd be lucky to get 250k for the two. Calm down people, these two will not make barnsley rich.
yes, mellis instead of cranie. digby rnl mellis could be easily multi million pound footballers. these are surely the players we shoupd be thinking about.
which two. Another Dig at Hassell and Steele??? Yawn dont think anyone wants Hassell to have a2 year deal, just a deserved testimonial season
I don't think you can class Digby & Noble-Lazarus as assets when neither have managed to put a run of first team games together. You'd be lucky to get 10k for Digby who's managed one start & followed it up with a season out injured. When one of them does what Stones did & cements a place in the first team then they'll become an asset. I'd class the likes of Cranie (if he signs), Mellis, Etuhu, Dawson, Golbourne, Kennedy & Dagnall. All first team regulars who are young enough to have a decent sell on value.
The biggest assets for BFC, are we the supporters. Some of these assets however, are more like assholes. Innit, Phil?
How much did we pay for those 2? It was considerably less than £250k, so we'd be making a profit on them? We aren't going to make any considerable money off of any of our players whilst we continue to give out 1 and 2 year contracts, regardless of how much the fans rate them. Jacob Mellis for example, say he has a good first half of this coming season, how much do you think he'd leave for in January, a young lad with bags of potential, we'd be lucky to get £500k for him, because he'd be available for nothing 3 months later.
a million pound plus for mellis. i think if one of the others plays in the first of the season then barnsley should get more than they did for stones.
They have done nothing yet to suggest they are worth any kind of transfer fee. Your young player crush is returning.
A million plus? Only if we get him signed up to an extension. As for Reubs and Digby, I rate them both and hope they do well next season. But I'd be amazed if Flitcroft selects them as regulars. So they'll not be worth ten bob in January.
