The first thing clubs need to do is start paying the coaches more than 10-15,000 per year. Pay players less, pay coaches more. Its an absolute joke what Premier league clubs pay there coaches. And championship clubs too. The FAs coaching badges are no longer the leading one to have so revamp them to bring them into the modern age. Limit the number of foreign players coming into the English game.
True because one fact i can tell you right now is the coaches bringing the youth through are shocking. Focussed on physical ability and not football as every man and there fecking dog can see.
Its really impressed me here in the USA how different Coaching is and the different emphasis put on players. I am going to do my NSCAA coaching badges in the coming months. England has just been left way behind ,in the next few years if something isnt done about it then it will be the end of England qualifying for tournaments and expecting to do well, we will end up worse than the scots and welsh. The mindset is all wrong
Why would it matter if i did or didnt when all you have to do is watch us once lumping it. Look at the national teams records they are abysmal. Look at the reports from all the pundits/journos were shocking. Its not difficult to see it needs a change.
Until the culture changes it doesnt really matter, all i care about is watching england do well. Until the youth system gets sorted we wont.
Has it worked for us in the past? Doubt we change the way we play with a few more experienced players. They should be there as it would be a help for their development but to say we'd somehow then look good i very much doubt.
Or instead of signing foreign youth players and developing them into stars instead of our own we will remain behind the better teams in the world!
The issues stem from more that just the coaching methods employed at youth development the problems start right at the top. 1- the English premier league. Two thirds or so don't qualify to play for England. The EPP that got passed through some blatent black mailing of league clubs of shares of monies means the premier league big wigs can have a stack em high policy leading to youth coaching being directed more at developing those who are shining at 15 and neglecting the ones who are late developers. 2- the assumption and arrogance England are still a force inside world football. 3- the refusal to put an age cap on when kids can join an academy. In England you can join from 9 year old and with that comes the added pressure from both clubs and parents to succeed in becoming the next big thing often leaving to burn out by the time they reach their late teens. Kids should be left to be kids not forced into the production chain. 4- too much too young. Million quid at year at 18 ...how much that that affect their ambitions to succeed?
When was the last time England played a full u21 team. Rooney was available from making in his England Debut at Senior level for 6 years and never played once.
Well thats because he was our best player from 18 for full internationals, if thats the case i really dont see the point of him playing u21. It kind of shows the dearth of talent we have. I hope we get to the point where the wayne rooneys are the norm. Have a look how many times ronaldo laked u21 and he was nowhere near at the same level rooney was when he was young. Its the welbecks, chamberlains, jones' etc that are the issue.
