and if so how did you pick your team- im an indians fan solely due to the major league films from late 80's mid 90's and hunter pence just launched his bat into crowd accidentally for giants but was quite funny
Heard its big in America .... think its f#cking shi#e misen ... i have the same view on cricket ... does this help?
I used to watch it a lot when I was younger, in my student days really. Channel 5. Also chose Indians as my team, based purely on the funny Indian logo. It was back in the days where McGuire and Bond were chasing some sort of home run record.
You'll hate this but the Yankees based on having been to a game on the night A-Rod was on his 599th home run and the atmosphere was electric. I appreciate they are the Man Utd of baseball and am suitably embarrassed.
They were usually ***** when I watched it. Can't say I've watched it for years now though. Not got the time for much these days, nevermind 5 hours of baseball.
astros originally because of the 'three b's' switched to giants after going to a couple of games, since which they've won the world series twice so now i feel like a bit of a glory supporter
i dont mind the giants ( just watching them now on espn america )-however for no reason at all i have an irrational hatred of the atlanta braves
When we visited my Dad's friend and his family in 1992 who at the where living in Maryland they took us to watch the Baltimore Orieles and it was 1 of the best experiences of my life.
I think we have a local baseball team around here, they only seem to train at night though. I'm not sure they even have a ball.
Chicago Cubs - Chicago being the first place in the States I went to, and a guy I worked with who was from Chicago told me about their history as perennial losers! Also Philadelphia Phillies as that's where the missus is from and been to a few games there. Used to like the Yankees when I first started watching, mainly because they were shown the most but gradually came to my senses on that though my all-time favourite player is Derek Jeter, Just get fed up of people over here with Yankees caps on and they aren't even aware it's a baseball team they have a cap of, never mind know the slightest thing about them.
Ah yes McGwire and Bonds, the steroid kings who have now been totally discredited. What a crap sport. IMO of course.
Washington Nationals, purely because i live just out side DC and the have the fantastic running of the presidents race in the middle of the fourth inning. They were the first team i saw live. Must admit theres always a great atmosphere in the stadium and plenty of snap too.
Tampa Rays, or the Devil Rays as they were when we first saw them. Several Florida holidays always end with a couple of nights at the Trop. I see a lot of Joe Maddon in Flicker and how he looks after his team. Subscribe to mlb.tv - like having a season ticket for every single Major League team all at the same time! Get to see most Rays games live if I can be arsed staying up.
I live directly across the road from AT&T Park in San Francisco and obviously I'm a Giants fan. It was great fun in 2010 and 2012 watching the mayhem from my balcony as the fans celebrated World Series wins.
