Good memories, mascot days. That's Gerry Whewall's car in that pic near the end, says "follow me to Oakwell" on the back.

    Great that.

Particularly like the one of the old club shop. I have fond memories of a buying 'Beaver' manufactured kit and **** loads of Pro Set cards. Then spending the walk home trying to offload my swaps for a Brendan O'Connell and get over the disappointment of getting a pack with three Alan Kimble's.

Funny how being in Black and White makes it look older than it actually was.

Clues being terracting at the "North Stand" - I'm sure that was just a mound when I first started going with just a few rows of terrace at the bottom and the John Smiths on the roof of the Brewery stand. Someone will correct me if I am wrong but didnt that say Oakwell Ales in the early '70s when I first started going and only have John Smiths after Courage bought up the brewery in the mid 70's

Blimey that takes me back a bit, Gerry Whewall used to come and watch the Sunday League side I used to play for 'back in the day', about 20/25 years ago now, I seem to recall he may have been treasurer or something like that. Seemed a good bloke, does anyone know if he's still around or has he since gone to that great technical area in the sky?

Not heard for a while, he was Lotterys treasurer or summat, Sandra was his assistant. She's still at the club now, l think she now does Gerry's old role.

They're not old! It's the 1980s or possibly even the early 1990s, although I'm not sure when the fence came down in front of the Kop.
    Clues to the year:
It's at least 1985 because there's a C reg Metro in one picture.
It's 1986 or after as there is an advert for club call which didn't start until '86.
I think it's later than that because the new floodlights have been erected, but I can't remember exactly when that was, but after '86.

It doesn't seem 2 minutes ago to me since the 1980s were the future.

I started going in 1989 and those pictures aren't far off how I remember it.

Talking of Back to the Future, I figured we'd all be travelling down Grove Street to Oakwell on hoverboards by 2013. I still sit on the same wooden seats I did when my old man first took me. Football may have changed considerably over the last few years but some things (including the West Stand) thankfully haven't.

I can't imagine sitting anywhere else other than the West Stand. >100 years of history. Beautiful.

I sit in the post uncovered seats mind.

There used to be an old bus body under there that was used as a refreshment bar.

That's what Oakwell looked like when I started going in 1988.

West Stand photos could have been taken yesterday, mind, in black and white.

I remember that well jack. My mate had to go up for the draw. Wasn't it narrowed down to a final few?
