A know we can all laugh and s****** at this programme but it really drives it home that some people live really awful life's, a know there's a lot of people who put themselves in that predicament but some do genuinely end up on hard times through no fault of there own. I spend my days assessing properties and I come across these types of tenants on a daily basis, it's sad really because as a father I'd hate to see my little girl end up getting amongst the wrong crowd but it seems so easy to fall into a wrong in todays society.

    Just saying....

In my experience people end up on hard times and living in poor conditions almost always due to their own faults, failings and poor choices. However EVERYONE makes mistakes and it's a shame that more can't be done to help people recover after their mistakes or poor choices. The big problem with trying to help those who genuinely need it though is that when you do that, you also inevitably help those lazy barstewards who don't want work and are just expecting people to clean up after them while they continue to make the same mistakes because it is easier. It's a vicious circle. Terrible shame for the genuine people though.

It's a vicious circle that I don't think will ever change, we live in a society where children see how there parents behave and automatically think its a normal way of life. Even if areas that have lost there industries were to offer jobs and ways back into the working community I think it would fail purely due to the fact that people cannot be arsed in working when they can get just as much from state benefits. No matter which political party are in power this problem will never change.

The biggest problem is that for every genuine case there are the anti-social scroats who live that life as a choice and give them all a bad name. I really feel for some families and I really would like them to get the help they deserve but if I could stop another penny of my money going to the feckless underclass that exists in this country I would. I just wish there was more that could be done to help those who are in genuine need of a helping hand and who want to give back to society rather than just taking everything they believe they're entitled to before sticking two fingers up to those who are helping them.

What a shock. I wish I was half as good at my job as you must be at yours. I'd win a Nobel fookin prize.

I really believe that the kind you talk about are the low end result of monetarism. Many at the top think **** the rest and these at the bottom think the same.

You can't expect people to know better if they are taught and brought up by people who dont know better. Additionally their situation in compunded by being around people in the same situation and they all have the poorer schools, education and services.

The rich and many middle class think 'these people' are just genetically inferior to them. They bang on about an equal society but they dont think the playing field should be levelled out before giving them a chance. Instead they leave the obstacles in their way, fail to fix the issues their economic policy have brought and then castigate them when nothing changes.

Edit: On the other hand all the good things in the economy are down to them. Funny how it works.

You see where folding towels can get a man if he knows the right people and is brought up in a priviliged background? Of course if he'd have been brought up 'Skint' he'd have been 'one of them'.
