I think we know Luke well enough to think he would have taken a 20% pay cut on the chin, if these indeed are the new economic facts of life and we need to narrow the differential in wages to bring a closer harmony to the first team squad. Fair dos. But 50%? After the season he had? It's a nonsense. And I keep saying this - Luke was the one who stuck his neck out publicly amongst all the bonkers embarrassment of the manager hunt and said, give it to Flicker - we want to play for him, stop pissing about and let's get on with it. To me, THAT is a captain of a football club. Now look what they fcking go and do with it. Let's get on this adventure, journey together? Do you know what? I'm not sure I'm that bothered to be honest, I don't think I like where you're going.
That means nowt without understanding his wage before. I bet he's been offered 1.5k a week to be a squad player. Not that bad, lads...
Must admit it's amazing how quickly Bobby tells his mates how much he earns. Must just be me that keeps that stuff private.
With 3 years until he starts drawing a tidy pension, moves into business and after dinner speaking/coaching.
From a career that pays hansomly. I don't subscribe to the theory that footballers should earn enough money to not have to work again. But its your birthday and you should be thinking of much better things than arguing with me about highly paid footballers Let's unite behind the campaign for a living wage for all
Not playing under the berk is the best thing that ever happened to Hassell. He's a steady Eddie who has been elevated to the status of one of our best ever defenders. He's a good pro and his attitude is faultless but I wouldn't be too concerned if he left.
I support a reduction in wages to bring him in line with players that are likely to be as involved as him next season. Regardless of what Bobby tells everyone in Morrisons I'm not getting worked up about a number that no one knows. I want him to stay. He's got the opportunity to.
It's a short career that's all. No, birthday never happened. Day based around taking care of my Mam and the dogs, then luckily brought her home late this afternoon. Such is life.
He's answered now. My question to you Mr.C is Do you think he should be on more than the likes of Mr Perkins, Golbourne and Dawson?
To me he proved himself to be very capable at this level still when he played last season. He is a championship defender, which is what we always want to bring in, why let that experience and level of performance go? Agree he should get a wage cut so he fits the budget for a squad player but let's not take the pi55 (and I know I haven't a clue what he earns or has been offered).
Mam home sounds a pretty good present given the start of your day. If you ever fancy a pint in Wentworth (and I'm at the in-laws) give me a shout. BFC Dave might come too. He's a top bloke.
