Ive a reyt idea or two........ opinions and ideas welcome

To smarten the concourse drab walls under the East/Ponty End. Create an 'Arsenal' type mural painted like a crowd scence. Charge fans a £5/10'er and (like the name plate wall next to offices/club shop) you provide a passport foto and your face will appear in the crowd. Approach a local paint shop/DIY store to supply the paint in exchange for their logo etc on the painted advertising hoarding at the base of the mural. Approach the local college to ask for artists to design and paint it as part of a project scheme etc etc. I'd certainly pay for my 'appearance'. Think it would look rather nifty misen.

My son is 8 and is at the stage where he loves the autographs pics with the players etc. So on the Ponty/East Stand concourse set up a 'table' where one or two of the youth/squad/injured/suspended players are their to chat, sign autographs and for the kids to see them Up close. Rotate them each home match from say 1230-130 to get people in earlier. I'm never in til 3pm but know if mi lad knew a certain player was there I'd be roped in to go early and probably end up spending best part of a tenner in snap and drinks!

how about HT providing lectures on youth & contract renewal strategies? i'd arrive an hour early for that. we could call it 'Youth & Manhood'. Kings of Leon could provide the soundtrack

Reading about Cardiff , they went from selling 500 family season tickets to 8500. We could pinch some of their ideas. One was for young ones when it was there birthday to receive a gift off club and to meet a few players and sit in dugout before match

Pitched half a dozen ideas along these lines, nowt. A snippet....

    The Big Draw

The Big Draw is an international event held every October. All kinds of institutions get involved and arrange free projects and activities to encourage children and adults to draw and paint.

I organized the Big Draw event with great success for several years at Kenwood House when working for English Heritage. As far as I am aware, no football club has ever joined in the event and it would be fantastic if the Barnsley FC were the first club to do so.

The event can be scheduled anytime during October and it would be fantastic to arrange activities on the morning of a home match at Oakwell. We could also involve away supporters. It might possibly have the benefit of bolstering the crowd that day and encourage families to attend matches on a more regular basis.

The drawings and paintings then might be displayed in the East Stand concourse for the supporters to see as they start arriving for the match. This may form the basis for a more permanent display to brighten up the concourse, which is often an issue with supporters.

    East Stand Concourse

It would be a great idea to brighten up some areas of the concourse with painted murals. Perhaps featuring great players of the past, or views of the town. I have often heard supporters complain about the bleakness of these areas and we could perhaps raise a budget to carry out these projects. It would be great to involve young supporters and local artists and students. I have coordinated many such projects in the past. As time goes on, we could look at extending this to other areas of the stadium.

As mentioned elsewhere, it would be nice to have an area of the East stand where there could be an exhibition space for the work produced by young supporters at various events.

Mr C ... IF you get this off the ground, (and I can't think why the club would do nothing rather than something), let me know. I would work with you to get volunteers to help with the project.

Thanks for the offer Fi, I will certainly take you up on that. Responding to an email would be a start. I was told Don was going back in March, but it's still no excuse for ignoring the offer. This might get handed over to the new board but I doubt it. I did talk to Rachel in marketing at length about it, all sorts - even the possibility of an artists residency, that I would take on and develop over a couple of years then hand over. It wasn't her call to make and I'm pretty sure it got lost in all the frantic activity to counter relegation. The club DOES want to do something, I know that. But as is very common in my field, it is the failure of anyone to seriously take ownership of the the idea and make some decisions.

    Cryne probably vetoed the idea.

Hopefully things will improve next season
I know that Supporters Trust have already had meetings with Don during last couple of months. Flicker is now involved and expect Family Area and pre match experience will be much improved for families and Juniors next season.
    Keep the faith

Why not try a couple of Friday night games, seems a better atmosphere for night matches
