I was looking at this map, has narrower borders to the west. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?clie...F-8&ei=sCTHUYv0GNCz0QX_0IHABA&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAg
South Nab, 461m, trig point adjacent to road at woodhead before the road dips down to salters brook bridge
By that map you are right and Hoylandswaine is about the highest, but I'm not sure why other parts of Barnsley (Penistone, Thurlstone, Langsett, Carlecotes, Dunford Bridge etc) are outside that map.
Re: South Nab, 461m, trig point adjacent to road at woodhead 461 m Above Harden reservoir (Snailsden) is 477m. Between the two is Upper Dead Edge at 499m (right on the boundry I believe)
Re: South Nab, 461m, trig point adjacent to road at woodhead Howden Edge is higher than both of those but never mind at least Sir Bob is back.
Re: South Nab, 461m, trig point adjacent to road at woodhead I always thought it was that too, but it isn't, it's what Stahlrost said. South Nab is the highest point directly at the side of a road, but the boundary line carries on directly south from there and encompasses part of Howden Edge which peaks at over 500 metres.
Re: South Nab, 461m, trig point adjacent to road at woodhead Yep Howden Edge is 510m n a bit (thats last contour anyway).
Royd Moor is 360m above sea level and is located within the Borough of Barnsley. Dunford Bridge/Winscar Reservoir/Fox House must be pushing 350m. Thats just this end of the Borough!
Re: South Nab, 461m, trig point adjacent to road at woodhead After an exciting afternoon I can confirm that Howden Edge is 514m above sea level.
Trouble with Howden Edge is that you've to walk miles to get to the highest point - and it's obviously uphill!
Re: It was ... good documentary on itv 2 at the minute, but what about woolley edge, is that tarn or wakey
for what its worth I think Brierley falls into one of those places that is a high point in relation to ... above sea level
Howden Edge is a peak which lies in the north east of the Upper Derwent Valley area of the Peak District National Park in England. At 545 m it is the second highest point in South Yorkshire, after Margery Hill grid reference SK187943
