Why is this ? is it

1 because you rate him very highly and see him as a important part of the team,
2 because we're short at the back and need to sign defenders,

I'm not sure mi sen, i want him to stay but i don't know why, i do rate him but if we had 3 other decent center halfs i'd not be bothered if he stayed or left.

I not sure either either but I'd still like to see one or two center backs come in to shore us up at the back a bit. The defence is my biggest worry.

both for me. hes one of those players that you don't realise just how good he is unless you watch him, just steady away and does what it says on the tin

He turned down a contract at Leeds as he didn't want to be a squad player last Summer. He gets brownie points right there.

I hope he signs. I don't feel he's quite the 'key' signing or 'great' centre half that others do, but I do rate him in a variety of positions and would be very happy to see him in our back three/four/five this coming season.

Also, I have no problem with him weighing up his options, as is his right. Although I will be slightly disappointed in him if he turns up at a Derby/Burnley/Blackpool etc. I'd see that as a sideways move and financially motivated. I'm looking at you Jason Shackell. By the way, isn't Greedy ****** due for his annual signing on fee..?

"I am captain, not Jason. I will only respond to captain. Ok?"

    ******* idiot.

Both. I rate him highly so ideally he'll sign and we'll bring in another centre half too.

Cranie is not the type of centre half who will dominate his opponent in the air. That is the type of player that we should look for in order to complement Cranie. He is a footballing centre half who can read the game, and who can find a good pass to a red shirt when the ball finds its way to his feet. In a game when the opposition cannot score when they do not have the ball, he ensures that the ball once won is kept. Just as the ideal forward line consists of players with differing skill sets, so too does a defensive line. Personally, I would be sad if he did not sign, especially as I have doubts about the fitness of McNulty.

    I think he's a good player. I don't think he's a great centre half.

Like him to stay so we've got some consistency. Not particularly bothered if not.

Re: Question to all the people that seem desperate for Martin Cranie to sign a new de

Sums up my feelings pretty well too.

In some games I thought he looked really classy. Almost like he as coasting and not having to try.

But when up against strong centre forwards and there was an aerial emphasis from the opposition, I thought he made his fair share of mistakes. I'd rather keep him than lose him, but if we could get a centre half with height to help us on set piece defending, we'd be much the better for it. I like McNulty, but his height isn't used as well as it could be.

On a general point, we really need to improve at set pieces across the board. Defending them and using them to attack. We improved a little as the season went on, but we didn't score from enough set pieces and corner routines.

Along with O'Grady, he's the key signing for me. Very classy defender who can play football but also wins his fair share in the air.

It's obvious Flicker and the squad rate him as well. He was voted player's player of the year and Flicker reckons that he could be the signing of the summer.

Crainie is a class act and would be a great signing.

Bu we also do need a least one more centre half, with Champinship experience.

Both, but even if he does sign, we still desperately need another centre half to replace Foster.

The first one. Wasn't completely sold on him in the first half of the season. Was our most consistent performer in the 2nd half. Still pretty young, has the ability to be a top defender. Would love to see him here for at least another 2 years, but unfortunately I can't see it.
