I hope the Daly Star is wrong about Adam El'ad.....anyone with b/player watch the Brighton game at home....oh dear...
He's not coming. http://audioboo.fm/boos/1473200-bar...sford-on-recruitment-and-plans-for-the-future 8 minutes 40
David Flitcroft says he is prepared to be patient regarding further signings at Barnsley. Having expressed his pleasure at the players who have committed themselves to the club, the Reds manager says the nature of the recruitment was key. “People were looking at who we were going for, players will wait to see who comes in and then things began to happen and people could see we meant business,” said Flitcroft. “Dale Jennings comes in from Bayern Munich - he chooses Barnsley. People take notice. Chris O’Grady could have gone to other clubs in The Championship but he’s back here. And he was the catalyst for the others. “We are going to do things in a completely different way at this football club and, perhaps, Luke Steele - who has been here a while - has probably heard it all before about things going to change but this time, he knows there is something different. Everybody does.” ‘Keeper Steele, at the club five years, has signed a new two-year deal. He initially turned down an offer and considered leaving. He joins defender Martin Cranie who has re-signed along with Tomas Cwyka and Bobby Hassell. Flitcroft, who will work closely with new chief executive Ben Mansford, 33, a lawyer and former player agent, does not expect any more newcomers before the club leave for the pre-season trip to Spain on Sunday. “Myself and Ben will work with a vision and a purpose,” he said. “We are looking but I am prepared to wait for the moment, I am ok with that. Will will get the right people in.” He said their interest in Brighton defender Adam El-Abd remained alive.
Very well yes. If you listen to the Luke Steele interview too http://audioboo.fm/boos/1473281-barnsleyfc-goalkeeper-luke-steele-on-his-new-deal-and-the-future It's pretty obvious that when Don was here Luke got offered a one year deal on not much brass, but when Ben and Maurice arrived that got changed to a two year deal on better money. Thank **** for that.
Agree. Although there does feel like there's a big reliance on bringing some extra cash in if we're upping the ante in terms of money. Or is Cryne now offering a bit more support? All this has gone to prove that people know f.ck all (include misen) about what goes on behind closed doors. First of all it was Don to blame then it was Flitcroft that offered the contract and now it's Ben that's sorted it etc. Fingers crossed it's the start of summat special. Not felt this positive in a long time. Don't like it.
I like how this Mansford has been so up front about our transfer activity - saying El-Abd doesn't fancy us, fair enough, and that Higdon was nowt to do with him but that deal seems dead as well. Long may it continue, I've always been a straight talking person, spade a spade and all that so I can definitely relate to this guy, even if he does like to use the odd management phrase - "ahead of the curve" seems to be his favourite but I'll let him off with that.
It all feels a bit alien doesn't it??? I have to say... not met the new CEO or Chairman, but I certainly have a different perception of the club from the last week alone, and I'm sure others will too. At the start of the summer I thought Steele and Cranie in particular would be long gone. Having a manager who talks from the heart can get you so far. You have a CEO and Chairman with a blend of experience and dynamism and that's a very intoxicating blend.
Even Stokes is having to work for a living nar updating Official site more regularly, still someway to go mindst with outdated info.
Indeed... interesting to hear about the balance of some of the deals too and being innovative in how players are rewarded. Good grief... we've reached the 21st century!
In the Flitcroft audioboo near the end he says we will be having a look at 3 or 4 spanish players whilst we are there, Ben asked me to look at them and its logisticlly better to do it in Spain. Also said the players were not offered new deals at there current clubs. But didnt say what division they played in, and referred to Roberto Martinez and Gus Poyet on there recruitment of spanish players.
Yeah I take that, but that 5ft 11 thing n'all, sure we need a bit more height than that...if we're going for tiny centre-halfs id sooner play Bobby in there.. Hope he says darn sarf..
