I totally get where your coming from but do we have to accept it or not though? Why not just take away peoples rights in exeptional cases ? Brady admits what he's done so that should also play a part.

Because the state would decide what would be an 'exceptional case' and it would then become dangerous. We also need to think about people who make statements when they are mentally ill/depressed/very low intelligence etc... Look at the case of Evans in the Rillington Place murders - a complete travesty of justice

 

I just worry about how soft and lenient we have become as a country. These murderers/ criminals have enough rights and they know it. You have to draw the line somewhere and I think in Brady's case it should have been drawn a long time ago. In 50 years time this country will be in a far worse state than it is now unless we make some serious changes. I know it opens it up to misjutice but mistakes will happen regardless.

I agrre with you about being 'soft' on criminals but we can't have a country, surely. where we are ok to allow miscarriages of justice to happen. If your mum/dad was wrongly accused of murder and hanged but later found innocent because of new evidence etc you wouldn't be pleased. I think the problem is more with society's values as a whole not with the criminal justice system

I wouldn't want anyone hanged for any reason as mistakes are made but these cases are rare. I think nowadays with d.n.a etc that exceptions could be made as proof is more easily obtained. How many family's have suffered due to the Ian Brady's of this world and are still suffering everytime they get a hearing.

 

You really are a complete tool and despite your best attempts to give the impression of intelligence you have once again failed.

 

Probably be a good thing if this site crashed more often.

 

Why post on here if you can't have a reasoned debate.......just because people have a difference of opinion to you, they are not "knuckle draggers".......they just have an opinion.
