PIL still just as rough sounding the first time I heard them.

Amusing watching the gormless indie kids look clueless.

Haven't watched a bit of Glasto. Don't really get watching gigs on telly. You're either there or you're not, for me. Tell a lie, watched Portishead. They make me shudder every damn time!

    "And that was The xx"

"Yeah, lovely, and they looked like they were having a really good time!"

That's the standard of presenting on BBC Three

They were like listening to paint dry. Dull paint at that.

See I love the first xx album. But their stuff is so low key and understated that it must be really hard to translate to a festival stage. That said, I was flicking channels and watched more of that than Mumfords. But the presenters were horrible. Like they'd been given a labotomy and then told to be 'quirky' because its, y'know, cool

I'd never heard of xx. Oh those young presenters are a waste of space. Lauren Laverne makes me laugh though, fit as owt n'all.

Arcade Fire in Manchester was up there for me, certainly in my top 5 alongside Radiohead at Leedsfest 09, The Cure's 3 hour set at Bestival 2011, The Fall at this year's Long Division festival and Patrick Wolf with Lightspeed Champion in Sheffield in 08.

I'm forever indebted to Lauren Laverne, because in an interview she said the best book she has ever read was Michael Chabon's 'The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay' which I went and bought, and is now one of my favourite books too.

Neon Bible at MEN or The Suburbs at Manchester Central? The full church organ on the Neon Bible tour was special

Ruined 10 o'clock live, though. Had a lot of potential that show but she's just terrible on it.

Bit harsh. What do you mean in it for the wrong reasons? She's not signed to a major label and wasn't the daughter of a music exec either.

lauren laverne knows her stuff, to be fair. it's just at events like this, they surround her with idiots. she's about as alternative as BBC pop mainstream allow. marc riley and gideon coe really know their stuff, but the viewing figures would be through the floor

    p.s. aren't mumford & sons ******* wnak!?!
