Posted on Tykesmad by animallittle2..................and I (Young Nudger) have got to agree with this 100%..........see below: And i aint kidding either , Director Of Football , the man would be made for the job , look at the players he's discovered for next to nothing . Wiseman , Perkins , Mellis , Ethu , Goldbourne , Dagnall , Crainie , Dawson , Vaz Te , Davies , this is in just one and a half seasons remember . The man is a genius at finding raw talent , let Flicker and his staff do the managing and coaching and we have a set up made in heaven . Hill the manager may have been a train crash but you cant knock the bloke for the talent he's brought to the club who are now developing into very good championship players .
Keith Hill should never be allowed to step foot in Oakwell again even if we play any team he manages in the future
Convenient to miss out dross he found. Let's not forget, too, that half the fans hated wiseman and dagnall 7 months ago.
...........never mind the quality.......feel the width (not many on here will remember that) Keith is a genius when it comes to bringing in players from lower divisions or players that have come off the rails Let Flicka et al sort the management of the team out............but lets have Keith back in the background to advise OK, Keith didn't have the luck to get the players playing as a team............ But lets face it..........Keith Hill built the best set of players seen at Barnsley for years.........and he's done it with next to no money
Serious question Nudge, how do you know some of those players weren't the product of Flickers talent spotting? You seem very quick to give full credit to Hill without knowing the facts.
"Didn't have the luck". That's what you call it? He almost single-handedly broke the Club from top to bottom. The worst manager i've seen in my years following the Club, and we should have an injunction on him coming within a mile of Oakwell
Keith Hill describes preseason at Rochdale “The way you start is important. It’s like going on a car journey to Plymouth or Cornwall or Scotland, you’ve got to be prepared and in good shape first and foremost. The wife has got to pack the sandwiches and the kids have got to be in the kid seats. You’ve got plan for that journey to be as comfortable as you can be and legislate for anything that might go wrong, like a flat tyre for example."
I've wondered for a while that maybe it was Flicker who was behind some of those moves. Only time will tell who the real talent spotter is.
Re: Keith Hill describes preseason at Rochdale That would be the best and quickest way ever to undo all the good things that's happened at the club since 1.1.13. Absolutely bonkers
Re: Keith Hill describes preseason at Rochdale Wiseman , Perkins , Mellis , Ethu , Goldbourne , Dagnall , Crainie , Dawson , Vaz Te , Davies , this is in just one and a half seasons remember . surly he cant take credit for finding mellis and davies, also Cranie was exactly unknown davies scored 20+ goals the previous season hardly the find of the century - also the Don says he signed him Mellis was given a 4 year cotract at chelsea before being sacksed so obviously had ability
The guy builds a team with players such as Vaz Te, Drinkwater, Golbourne, Perkins, OGrady (and yes he was after OGrady long before he actually joined the club)...........and brings players through like Butterfield and Stones......and yet people on here just wont admit it and try to say that it must have been his assistant Flicka Well Flicka might have had a big part to play but the main participant at that time was Keith
Yeah, and the main participant managed to achieve the worst stats in decades and completely alienate both the fans and board. With that squad of players. Some feat
But you are again glossing over the issues that the majority of hills signings were failures and a waste of money.
Just one decent sale will have paid for the wages of the players that didn't make it It was only the short term contracts that made them a waste of money.............Vaz Te, Davies, Butterfield........went for peanuts Now there are longer contracts more money will be needed to get them away from the club I would love to see Keith Hill back at Barnsley in some capacity...........but not 1st team coach
One of the most ridiculous posts I've seen on this forum, were talking about a man here who had little or no respect for anyone to do with Barnsley football club. Take into account aswell that directors of football seem to take over alot of the managerial duties in which David Flitcroft clearly stated he wanted full control to which the club agreed! C'mon now mate, Keith Hill? Bigger mistake than NUFC with Joe Kinnear.
Jonathan Greening. The much needed handbrake in a team walking a tightrope blind with 2 broken legs. The man's a loser and must never be put back in charge at ANY level at Oakwell. I wouldn't trust yond as chief bottle washer! Poor Rochdale.
