3 Pacific A4s at York to mark the 75th anniversary of Mallard's speed record. A marvellous sight. Apologies for linking to the Daily Mail, but it is a reasonable article with some great pictures. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ime-mark-75th-anniversary-126mph-journey.html This is a largely non football based post.
I love the picture of the Dominion of Canada being towed through York Station by a very well turned out Deltic.
Hoping to be there this weekend to see them all together: Billy bonus is that the Mrs loves the trains also so no need to offset the NRM with shoe shopping in York
How long did these take to get from Yorkshire to London back in the day? Think from Donny it's about an hour and 40 minutes today but I would have thought that theoretically these weren't much slower?
The other 3 uk based ones arriving today too, two of them operational the Sir Nigel Gresley and Bittern, who Jedi saw a couple of weeks ago.
Cheers for the info Mr C. I just hope my flights to dirty Leeds/Bradford airport are on time this Friday so I can get home. Fecking Flybe..............
I don't love trains, I just said i'd seen a big steamy thing where I used to live and it took me back to my childhood, just as much as kev rose and paul turton kicking the living snot out of me 'cos i'd fingered on of thems girlfriend would have! and NO before you ask I didn't enjoy that either, the kicking that is not the fingering
