He didn't desert anything or anybody. He left for the chance of a better opportunity and was agreed by all parties. It's football, it's life, it happens. Move on

Well said. The amount of threads about Stones coming back here (which won't happen) is big enough to have it's own sub section.

Mixed feelings about a possible return for him to be honest, we seem to have a good thing going, don't think we particularly missed him or if he is better (at the moment) than what we've got.

Exactly. Even Don Rowing claims that the club was essentially forced into the sale because he wanted away. 'The club doesn't hold all the cards' he said. I fail to see any difference at all between Jason Shackell leaving us to go to what he thought was a better team, McIndoe leaving us to go to what he thought was a better team, in fact quite a lot of players who now get booed every time they dare to enter Oakwell and what John Stones did. The managing director of the club says that the player wanted away and that essentially forced the club into accepting a lower offer than they would have liked. That is exactly the same as Shackell. One is booed and called a greedy *******, the other gets a gym named after him. Football doesn't make sense anymore.

Awful analogy, you can't compare derby and Bristol city to Everton. Plus the club did well out of the sale and it was in our interests.

Yep, and I bet no one here has ever left their employer, for more money or better career prospects? I assume we're all with our first employers, and will be for life?

    Weird.

Selling our regular right back on the last day of the transfer window when we were in a relegation battle was not in our interests and the club didn't do well out of it, as I've said Don Rowing himself said that the club didn't hold all the cards in the deal because he wanted to leave. And you can compare the two as they are both clubs that our players have signed for from us after wanting away.

What is your opinion on Shackall, McIndoe, Davies, Hammil, Vaz Te and co? 'There's only one greedy *******' or welcome them back with open arms?

As it turned out his leaving had no negative impact at all. The money we received for him (a very tidy sum too) is now possibly available to improve the squad. The negativity towards a young player who simply made a (very wise) career move is sad.

As it turned out Adam Hammill leaving didn't have a negative impact either as we stayed up but he is still booed every time we play him

No, I mean he left us adrift at the bottom of the league with an almighty fight on our hands. What defender can be said to have had a decent season in such a position? He could have gone in the summer and we would have still copped the transfer fee. Where did this other half a million come from? Also, the seasons/tax year profits were 2.5m.

Not by me. Didn't hear any towards him last season.

We didn't know that at the time though. I really wish him the very best, I hope he has a great career and plays for England. But I'm not going to wet myself over the thought of him coming back on loan.

There was quite a lot of booing when he came on, I was surprised.

I hear it every time he plays against us, same for all the others too. I'm not slating John Stones OR the rest of them, what I am saying is that it is hypocritical of people to slate them all whilst wanting to sh@g john stones who did the same thing

I must be deaf then. Took me 5 mins to realise he had come on.

Now your just being a bit pathetic. Wanting to shag? People just think he would be a good loan. And he would.

No but you are wetting yersen at the suggestion of him coming on loan. He would be a great loan signing regardless of the circumstances of him leaving.

He played 20 odd games and left for big money to the Prem, making us a few million. We were all winners.
He was at the club for years, as was Butterfield. They got an opportunity too good to turn down, and when you look at the likes of Luke Potter, you can't blame them.
But it seems we like to knock our own at this club. I don't recall Vaz Te getting any grief when he left for peanuts. The club got the blame. And he'd only been here 5 minutes and was gash a lot of the time.
    Yet folk still laud him.
Whereas Butterfield especially, and Stonesy more and more as time progresses, are to be vilified.
Would love folk on here to meet them both. Two nicer lads you wouldn't meet. Humble, yet ambitious.
I'm going to work now before I get stuck on this soapbox. :D
