he's definitely better than League Two. Something must have happened while he was with us, as he seemed half-decent for the first few months (didn't someone like Palace come in for him?), then he seemed to disappear for a while and when he came back into the side it was if he had never seen a football before.
Level found. One of the the defining things for me about Keith Hill's tenure was how often he returned to Done, shoe-horning him into whatever strategy he'd planned for the day. Bolton away last year was one if the first signs (for me) that he was running out of idea (maybe I was slow?) No offence to Done, but I always found it odd he got a deal here after not being offered one by the same gaffer at Rochdale. He showed some promise first season, but ultimately showed he lacked the talent and consistency to cut it at this level. All the best for the future, but never a championship player.
Easily Championship quality... on his day. And they were as rare as rocking horse ****, unfortunately. You never got a 'decent' game out of Done. He was largely poor and anonymous, and sometimes quite brilliant. He should tear League Two up, even at his frustratingly inconsistent best/worst. I still think there's a player in there, I just don't think he himself has the courage or want to get it out of himself regularly. Seemed half arsed. And I'm afraid I've seen too many Matty Done types at Oakwell. I'm hoping the boy Jennings has the drive required at this level, as well as the ability. (that Done did/does have). Just my opinion.
Maybe so. But Dougie Freedman won more points than any other manager in the Championship last season. He wanted to sign him. He must have something about him...
I can only assume he likes being on the bench. Keith Hill signed him for Rochdale and again for us, but he didn't start him in all that many games, for either club. I'm not surprised by that like, I didn't rate Done much at all, but it does seem a bit odd for a player to follow a manager around when that manager doesn't see him as an automatic starter.
