I'm not that far from there but mine's on so must be a localised problem. Just wondering though - these folk who have solar panels on their roof, if there's a power cut (and it's still light obviously) is there a limited amount of power available to you or do the inverters generally shut off if power from the grid is lost? I built a very ugly looking but effective emergency power system (originally for camping but realistically too heavy to be that mobile) from an old car battery, cheap invertor from Maplins (rated at 300w) and a cigarette lighter type connector attached. I've never actually used it during a power cut as the longest it's been off in the last few years is about five minutes but I've messed about with it a few times and it will run the cable router, laptop and small TV at the same time no problem at all, not sure for how long but I would guess several hours minimum with a fully charged car battery. One thing I'm not sure of though is if the power is off, does that also stop the cable broadband signal getting to my house? Obviously I've only tested the router through my battery when the power hasn't actually been cut off.

Yeah freezer ok for a few hours without power, have to reset control panel on mine when electricity comes back on as it doesn't do it automatically as I found out after the last power cut!
Right result. Been putting off defrosting the freezer for months, job done now. Was on tea duty, but electric cooker rendered out of action 5 mins before I started. Fortunately some chicken in fridge for butties. Best of all I'd fetched the Guinness from Rhythm & Booze, so was cold already. Happy Mondays
