NO, the game was meant to be a Tuesday night game, Sky wanted it as the Monday night game and doncaster said NO.

I couldn't give a toss about any of our games being on Sky. I want to see us kick off at 3pm every Saturday, with of course, the odd Tuesday night game throw in for good measure.

Any other time but 3pm on Saturday is sh*t in my opinion. Sky can go **** themselves as far as I'm concerned.

No, Doncaster said no. Actually John Ryan said not a chance.
The game was played on a Tuesday night and barnsley won

It should bring in a lot more.

But only way to get more tv revenue is to bankrupt yourself getting promoted then live off the parachute money.

The money in football will be the death of it.

So when Fergie, Wenger, Mancini, whoever's managing Chelsea at the time, etc complain about Sky games before/after their Euro games they could have just cancelled the TV deal?

    Utter ******.

No it isn't. Clubs can turn down the opportunity whenever they want. We turned it down last season due to police advice, Donny turned it down against us and Leeds turned it down a couple of seasons ago because they didn't want to change the date of their game.

I'll be in NYC! Anyone know a decent place for breakfast with the footy on?

Depends if the games have been organised by the Prem to be played on TV. They will have a group of matchs between 4 of the best 6/7 teams for supersunday but they could.

I've no idea what the rules are in the premiership but in the championship the club can say no to a sky match, the contract states that the club must agree to play ONE game on sky per season, above that they can simply say no and at such an early stage in the season it is not uncommon for clubs to be allowed to say no because it is reasonable to expect there to be a game later in the season.

So once we've played SWFC we can tell Sky to **** off if they ask us to be on tv again?

Yep pretty much. Though I personally think it would be crazy to turn down the guaranteed income and the exposure but that's just me.

It's a shame that we have to bow to the TV money but realistically the majority of the income is already secure via season tickets so we're only trading off TV money against pay-on-the-day revenue. How much do we get for the game being televised?

All clubs get £3million a year in the champ, with bonuses for more games being shown. This is why I can't understand people moaning.

FYI, in league 1, TV money is a min of £500k + bonuses, think ourselves lucky!

Huddersfield town Chief exec: “Huddersfield Town has a contractual obligation as a member of the League to facilitate Sky TV games under the Football League contract...no club in the history of all the Sky agreements had failed to fulfil its TV obligations – every team must have one live televised home game."

It was regularly reported to be around £100k but I seem to recall Gordon Shepherd claiming that back then it was actually more like £60k. Not sure if we were in league one then though and obviously the figure should have risen with the increased deals.

So it's roughly worth between 3000 and 5000 on the gate.
