Hiya All, Ive been a fan of the super reds since my dad took me, along with a milk crate, in the old brewery, way back in 1980. Its an irrational obsession supporting the reds, but ive loved coming on here and viewing your posts for the last few years, some good some, well lets say eveyones got an opinion. So now im all membered up I will try and offer balanced and some riddiculously unbalanced opinions on all things BFC and of course the comedy club near Hillsboro park. Hope for some good banter lads. COYR!!
Welcome. The unbalanced opinions will help you fit right in. You started watching the reds same season as me (and Mario Kempes, and Jack Tatty I think).
Just looked that up... had no idea he'd died so tragically. One of my oakwell favourites... a true lunatic!
Yeh. An often forgetten oakwell hero. What a tryer that guy was. Couldnt half jump for a smallish lad. Died way too early. One of my best memories when he did the famous somersault away at stoke. Top lad he was.
If my memory serves me right, wasn't said somersault used in the opening credits for Match of the Day / The Big Match?
Yes it was... wasn't it at home to Stoke in the Tuesday replay... 21,000 in oakwell with pink panthers galore?
U may be correct my friend. Im sure we drew two a piece at theirs and we won the replay at oakwell if my memory serves but my memory has never been my strongpoint
That was my first away game. 3-3 away, 2-1 at home and then the Everton game when Paul Futcher had Neville Southall at his best to deny him a 30 yarder
I remember when it was someone or others testimonial and we were playing a Man U side at oakwell, the commentator was announcing the players with nicknames. I'll never forget the David 'gyppo' Currie and Steve 'don't call me mushroom head' Cooper. That haircut did look like him mum had done it with a mixing bowl tho'. Rip Steve. Oh and welcome.
I remember that! My particular favourite was Jim 'Throbbin' Dobbin! Now there's a future BBS user name if ever I saw one!
