According to the People, Crystal Palace are considering making an offer for Jacob Mellis, who has 1 year remaining on his contract.

Mansford can't wait much beyond this autumn to tie up deals for likes of Mellis. Although playing him left midfield does nothing for him or the team.

If he is going to be playing wide all season I say let him go. I would rather see cywka on the wing. Don't think there's room in the team for mellis when we play 442

He would suit Palace well. 3m price tag slapped on now.

Don't really get the 4-4-2 formation. Our best play has come from 3-5-2, and our squad is stronger now than last season. Dawson and Mellis are not wingers

442 will not work. To easy for other teams to play around us in that formation. If we stick with 442 then I think mellis and Dawson should be on the bench. And that would be a disaster

442 will work..in certain games..I don't see why people must see a fixed formation, formations will even change during games and maybe more than once...its horses for courses..depending on who we are playing, and who is fit and available...be open to all possibilities..

We won't get any more than 1 million for him, and he's our most creative player, so this is worrying. Hopefully under Mansford we won't roll over as easy.

I think you kinda answered your concern there

as I do not believe our new hierarchy will be push overs. £2.5mill I reckon..... maybe we could get a swap on a centre half or a striker?

About time someone gets it, I'm pretty sure Flicker has different game plans and systems on paper before every game.

I wouldn't be that disappointed to see him leave, pretty sure we could replace him.

    Let me get this right

You don't rate Jacob Mellis. You think Chris Shuker is better than Jim O'Brien. You didn't rate Charlie Adam and was quite glad when he turned us down for Blackpool.
I'm now convinced John Fahey is a member of The Flat Earth Society?:D:D

Re: Let me get this right

I never said I didn't rate him :) I think he's an excellent playmaker on his day, but if he wants the opportunity to go back down south and play in the Premiership then good luck to him, nobody is irreplaceable.

I still believe Shuker had more end product than JOB, but as discussed previously they were different leagues/levels/era's.

And Charlie Adam, lazy b*stard with a decent left foot :)

Are you getting a season ticket, mate? Your love and enthusiasm for the club never ceases to amaze me, John, and I have the greatest respect for you as a man & fan. Even though it's obvious you know bugger all about football!!:D:D

I haven't been down yet to pick mine up. Well, when I say 'I', obviously I mean Crystal.

    Re: Straw, clutch

I'd be tempted to let him go for the right money, now other clubs are showing a interest he ain't going to be signing a new deal with us, so get shut and replace him with someone willing to sign a 3 year deal, same goes for Dawson Perkins & Etuh extend there contracts now or sell them now unless we're keeping them to the end of there contract and willing to lose money on them, hanging about until January will cost us our Championship status one year

    If he goes

I'll wish him all the best. But I'd prefer us to keep him and if we can't, make sure we've got a replacement lined up first. That would also go for any of the others you've mentioned. We now have, in my opinion, the best squad for quite some time and it'd be nothing short of crass stupidity to weaken it unnecessarily.
