Budgie!!! Saw them at Uni in Nottingham, circa 74, made mi ears bleed, literally...Loudest racket I've ever heard.
They toured with Judas priest in 74 you sure it wasn't those awful Brummies that didn't do the ear damage? Budgie were class.
Nope, deffo (or should that be deafo?) Budgie....Played a small hall and had a rig more suited to the Albert Hall...I swear I saw grown men cry....
If you look in the encyclopaedia, it actually says that it's Tom Waits 'Heart Of Saturday Night'. Fact.
A few more good 'uns that spring to mind Deacon blue - raintown Public enemy - it takes a nation of millions Beautiful south - choke
Thank fook. I scrolled down through all the other pretenders until some one posted the best album of all time Dark side of the moon is the best album that has ever been and ever will be made.
Gonna have to think about this one. probably The Velvet Underground and Nico, Ziggy Stardust or VivaDixieSubmarineTransmission plot> I heard all these at age of 17 and they changed my life
The Soft Bulletin is a brilliant album but it was released in 1999. I'd chuck in: I am a Bird Now - Anthony and The Johnsons Is This It - The Strokes Seldom Seen Kid - Elbow Late Registration - Kanye West Hour of the Bewilderbeast - Badly Drawn Boy Aladin Sane - Bowie Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd Automatic for the People - REM OK Computer - Radiohead Forgiveness Rock Record - Broken Social Scene
By far and away my favourite album of last year, but I still need to love it in a year or so to join the list above. Going to Tramlines? I keep fishing with Anthony and The Johnsons expecting someone to lay in to it. My mates normally do. But I'm not shifting form the fact it is a work of staggering genius.
