Conspiracy theories

Anyone on here into them? I'm not much of a beleiver myself but my uncle has recently took a more than keen interest in them so I decided to read through a couple of them and to be quite frank some of them are absolute barking mad! The 911 one is rather interesting but again, a little bizzare. I've always been rather skeptical on the Tupac Sakhur shooting and part of me says he is still alive. Anyone else read them?

Ahhhh I've heard about that before. Find it to be crazy talk like 99% of all the other conspiracies. Think it's probably down to David Icke wanting to earn a few quid. Like I said I sort of believe the Tupac one but his death was massively skeptical from day one.

 

Armstrong never walked the moon. Courtney Love had Kurt Cobain murdered. The police murdered both Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. 9/11 was an inside job. The US and UK invaded Iraq for oil, and Afghanistan to control the Heroin supply.
These are just some theories that have fascinated me. It's impossible to say whether either are true, but I do have my suspicions.
Saw a great youtube video of a Canadian MP talking about the common knowledge of Aliens, too, recently. His words really made me think. I'll try dig it out.

So yes, I love a good conspiracy theory. I like to wonder, to think.

 

I've looked at most of them really, spent a fair bit of time looking a while ago.

Thought it was only me.


One I find interesting is the JFK assassination

 

I was never a believer of many, but since coming over to the states i have got myself more or less believing the 9/11 one now,
i would say about 30% of americans i have spoke too believe that it was the government doing an inside job, or if not that, they believe the government could have stopped it and new about it before it happened

Everything has a conspiracy nowadays. I know the news over exaggerate certain stories so not a lot of people believe them but some things go to far.

The only conspiracy I believe in is referees down at Oakwell cheating.

That's the bit that gets me with it really.

I don't understand why the planes weren't shot down, especially when the air force were carrying out training excersises about 20 mins away from the hijacked aircraft.

But then again, there's probably an explanation.

 

I downloaded a book on the Illuminati yesterday on a recommendation. Looking forward to reading it once I finish "Why God Isn't Great" by Christopher Hitchens, which is a fascinating if biased read!

 

Whilst I do not doubt that there must be many other advanced civilizations in the Universe, the laws of physics dictate that they are very unlikely to be able to visit us, so I remain skeptical on that front. However, if you have a link I'd like to see it anyway!

 

The explanation might be that prior to 9/11 I don't think that anyone would have thought that a hijack would result in a suicide mission on such a scale. The psyche of the whole world has been skewed in a different direction after that time. Also would you have advocated shooting down a plane over such a densely populated area ?

 

I would argue that that says more about the yanks than it does about the credence of the conspiracy theory.

 

There is always a rational explanation when you look at all the facts.

 

The reason I just can't believe alot of the conspiracy theories is because many of them relate to extraterrestrial life form. I'm not sure if anyone else had read the ones regarding the royal family, Barack Obama and George Bush being reptiles? I mean c'mon? Murders, government and 911 conspiracies are very interesting though.

 

A lot of stories are prime targets for "alternative theories" in the modern age, however that's not to say there are things that make me think. The moon landings ask questions ..... some of the mainstream books on the subject are just fantasy and bandwagon, but there are some good papers on the net. We probably have been to the moon but did we do it in JFK's timescale are did he just want us to believe it happened ?
911 gets to me, plenty of bizarre happenings. The main questions in my mind; look at the zillions of pics of the piles of rubble after the towers collapsed. I cannot for the life of me grasp the concept that the hijackers passports (and only theirs) were found within hours of the dust settling. And the Pentagon ....... sorry, but it just does not add up, not a bit of it.

 

The only one that's got me is the 9/11 building 7 thing, it's never been explained convincingly how that building "collapsed"...even the BBC tried to help the Americans out with a programme about it yet it just created more questions which made me think the BBC was somehow in on the conspiracy. The BBC also reported on the day that the building had collapsed before it actually had!

Where's the conspiracy theory in that? Vast oil reserves were in the hands of a mad dictator who at any time could destabilise the oil markets and cause global prices to sky rocket. There's enough oil in Iraq to keep the markets stable, while at the same time US oil companies could move in and make a killing. IMHO the conspiracy theories are the ones that claim we didn't go in to Iraq for the oil.

It hasn't quite worked out the way the US planned (of course not, it's Iraq) and China now plays a much more pivotal role in the control of Iraq's oil, but when the first oil licences were being sold, all the US companies were there.
