Oh a side note, my dad smoked for years he packed in when he was 70 but now suffers with copd, he regrets ever picking a cig up.

 

Not having a go or owt mate, but I don't think you understand the nature of nicotine addiction. Can I survive from entering the ground at 2:45 until leaving it at 5:00 without having a cig? Yes, of course I can. But it's not about surviving, it's about how you feel. The idea of going to the football on a Saturday afternoon is to enjoy yourself. My season ticket is one of my biggest annual outlays. I pay it because I have a good time at Oakwell. But if half way through the second half I'm staring to get twitchy from nicotine withdrawal and stop concentrating on the game and just start thinking when I can have my next ***, then I can't see me enjoying it all that much. If I no longer enjoy it, what are the chances of me buying a season ticket next season?

We've watched a hell of a lot of crap this last 10 years. We're hoping under Flitcroft it will get better, but it might not. Will I put up with watching ***** football and not being able to smoke? I dunno, I hope I don't find out on both points.

I have a cheeky one sometimes, down the West Stand ginnel with John Dennis. Near that massive stop smoking sign, as it happens. I can't see it hurts, everyone else is there for a ***.

I had a *** at Wembley too, after we lost. There were nowt else for it. Sometimes all you can do is sit down and have a ***. Mrs behind me told me I wasn't allowed. Was I bothered? Let em throw me out, said I. Would have been a darn sight quicker.

I don't have an addiction to smoking, just like an occasional *** and one of the best occasions of the lot is half time at a footy match! It wouldn't surprise me if half time was invented for a *** break.

While we're here, I'm a vegetarian and I am offended by the smell of meat. It makes me feel sick and therefore constitutes a health hazard. Can we please call for a ban on meat products at Oakwell please?

 

I've never smoked( apart from the odd *** here and there) so I have no idea how much your addiction rules your life, the way I feel is obviously different to you and many others, this is a good thing as if we were all the same life would be pretty boring ... However...

When the smoking ban in pubs came in lots of folk said that's it, I'm never going to the pub again and they still go. It may not be the best analogy in the world but that's the point I'm getting at

I struggle to see the reasoning for 'designated areas' for smokers. I like ****ing, I want a designated area with facilities etc, gally I've hit on an idea to boost the crowds!!

 

Really though, what is the problem with people smoking as they do in the corner outside the ponty for instance? it's outside! I go with my mate who smokes to keep him company.
