You are often asked in the navy 'is Scran good?' The answer is yes if there is something to put in a sandwich. curry goes in a sandwich. Spag Bol goes in a sandwich. If Scran is bad put melted cheese on top of it, instant good Scran!
my mate used to have the biggest kebab in the shop,he'd have one half there and then and the second half the day after with gravy,I thought he was the only one who had a kebab with gravy!
I beg to differ! My missus likes both yoghurt and porridge on bread. Even the thought of it makes me want to gag. Though when you move abroad your tastes do obviously shift, and you start considering edible or even delicious things that you wouldn't have touched with a barge pole previously. Since I've been in Russia, some of the following oddities have become favourites - gherkins, cold beetroot soup, pickled cabbage soup with mustard, cabbage pie (the Russians are masters at making cabbage taste amazing!), sweet cottage cheese pie, buckwheat porridge for breakfast (with butter and salt), horse meat in many and various forms, dried squid (eaten with beer).
I love Korean food. Never been to Korea, but we've got a Korean resto near us which is always rammed with Koreans so I'm assuming that the food is pretty authentic. I would imagine that living in Korea if you don't like fiery red chilli could be a bit of a drag though!
If I do make the trip to Korea, it would be to the North. I'm obsessed with it. Have you been to the DMZ?
Twice, but only from the South's side. Fantastically eerie, but awkward when the talk about northern propaganda when the South is just as guilty.
Obviously you know a lot more about what goes on in the south than I do, but do you really think the two are remotely comparable? South Korea is a rich and vibrant democracy. North Korea is 24 million strong prison camp, run by one mafia family. Kim Jong Il was involved in counterfeiting, extortion, large scale insurance fraud, had harems of underage girls at his behest and lived a life of incredible opulence whilst his fellow countrymen and women were reduced to eating rats and cockroaches to avoid starving to death. Which millions of them tragically did.
