Link here: http://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-mvoto-938755.aspx With regards to Jean Yves M’voto’s move to Barnsley, as reported today in the press. Paul Dickov said this afternoon: “I made an offer to Jean before we travelled to Portugal but while we were away he said he was going to speak to Barnsley. I explained that if he did, I would not be proceeding with bringing him to the club, as I only want players who are 100% committed to Doncaster Rovers”. Paul has targets in other positions which he is concentrating on now ahead of the season. In other words, Dickov is a bit of a bell end and Barnsley is a far better oppertunity/team/place than the Pikeys
so Paul ******** has not changed since his playing days still throws the teddy when it does not go his way.
what made me laugh more was the next story on the list, Doncaster can confirm that unfortunately the new kit will not be available in the club shop on the open day! class!
Sounds like the player was completely up-front with Dickov about exploring all his options and Dickov got the monk on. Absolute polar opposite to how Flicker has conducted himself in such situations. According to the Oldham site, Dickov sounds like a bit of a bell end.
Re: so Paul ******** has not changed since his playing days How is he doing that? I think most managers wouldn't want to take a player abroad who wasn't totally commited to them.
Disagree. He was absolutely fine with our out of contract players weighing up their options, and delighted when they all chose us. A free agent is exactly that, and if any manager in their wildest dreams believes that a free agent wouldn't have a look at all the options in front of him, he is not only naive but he's actually insulting the player's intelligence.
My view as well - Hard to really know whats going on but to take Dickov at his word - he wanted a player to commit to him without looking at his other options - why on earth would anyone do that its never been how football works
read what Merde tete has put below and then look back on the career of the petulant and spiteful Mr ********... a nasty little bastad if there ever was one.
I know what your saying MT but I wonder if we would have said the same had Chopra played in our friendlies then instead of going to Spain decided to talk to Doncaster. Something tells me he would have been the biggest so n so walking,
So M'Voto didn't just choose us over Donny, he chose the possibility that he might be able to get a contract with us over a definite contract already on the table.
You might be right mate. But then again Chopra is a bit of a special case - ie he has something very much to prove as far as his off-field conduct and all round character goes.
I'm wavering! One minute I think he'd be an awesome signing, the next I think he'd tear the dressing room apart. No denying his talent, but does he fit the Flicker mould? I certainly trust the current management team not to do anything which would upset the apple cart in the dressing room. I'm not completely sure he's a risk worth taking. But if he comes good of course, he would be the difference between mid-table and a play-off place or even more, especially if the league turns out to be anywhere near as tight as last season!
