Or do we still need another forward? Can't remember a time when the squad has looked so strong. I think we've had better first 11s in the past, but I'm struggling to recall such strength in depth. Hopefully injuries, suspensions and maybe even another team poaching one of our players shouldn't set us back too much this season.
Just a striker I reckon. An injury to either O'Grady or Daggers and we're relying on Scotland or one of the young lads.
It's fantastic to look at our squad, we just cannot name our first XI for the Wigan game. Very refreshing. I'd like to see us bring in another forward, a bit more competition for our forwards.
Initially was gonna say yes we are good to go.... and I think we are, but I also think we will see another forward come in. Flitcroft has sort of hinted such.
I was happy a couple a week ago to go with what we had at the time. The more we get the more to keep happy, but we certainly have strength in depth now with the new signings, trouble is some of the youngsters falling further down the pecking order once more.
No doubt at all that will happen because we will find one or two are not shaping up to the challenge or getting left behind.
I think we need another striker. If we can replace Harewood with a striker who works just as hard but perhaps scores more goals, then I think we are looking stronger in all areas of the pitch compared to the end of last season. Defence: I think Nytanga and M'vito should give us a bit more presence/flexibility at the back. Especially against direct/physical teams Midfield: Paul Digby is back available to challenge for a 1st team place, Jennings should provide us flair and creativity, we seemed to rely too much on Mellis to provide that last season. Strikers: It would be great if we could get an Aaron Mclean/Chopra/whoever to replace Marlon. That would be a very constructive summer in terms of retainment/recruitment, not to mention the positive changes in the club hierarchy.
Another striker and we're ready. Somebody with plenty of pace would be useful. O'Grady and Dagnall work well together, but an injury to either and we're a bit thin upfront. Scotland is a huge asset coming off the bench, but his fitness and mobility become a bit of an issue if he regularly starts games. Jury is still out on Rose, for me, and I can't comment on Cofie.
Another striker would be good. We may not have to use the loan market at all this season, that would be good too.
"We may not have to use the loan market at all this season, that would be good too." Heartily second that. Really hope we don't.
A goal scorer such as chopra/McLean/sharp(just for the pikeys) and I will be the most confident I've been ever watching the reds, even moreso than the promotion season
Who's moaning? Just would rather have us use all our own players than the loan market. Shows a strong squad.
Flicker has said numerous time that the search for that better, affordable player is ongoing. That the squad is never complete and can always be improved. Personally, I hope this Lopez lad turns out to be our Roque Santa Cruz, without the injuries.
