Doubt ive seen one of these so thought id put my ill informed thoughts down: Steele Wiseman Mvoto Crainie Golbourne Jim/Perks Etuhu Digby Mellis Jennings Cogba
Jennings doesn't look fit enough to start, and Nyatanga has been streets ahead of Golbourne pre season.
I really can't decide. I think our best formation is 3-5-2 but I don't think we can fit both Jennings and Mellis into it. We now also have a serious problem picking just 3 centre halves after M'Voto's performance tonight.
Steele Wiseman Cranie ____ ____ Golbourne Perkins Mellis Etuhu O'Grady _____ They are the certainties for me.
tonight has reaffirmed in my mind, that 3-5-2 is far stronger than 4-4-2. i just don't think we have the natural wingers to give us an effective 4-4-2. was well impressed with m'voto. he'd be going straight into the starting XI for me Steele Cranie, M'Voto & Nyatanga, back three Goldie & Wisey, wing backs Kelvin, Perks & Mellis, middle three Cog & Daggers up front
Seems like flicker is heading more towards 442 formation. So i don't really know who I'd start with. Can't see him wanting to drop his mate TK. Once etuhu is back fit I don't think Dawson will play. And I'd rather see digby in the middle than Dawson. Think we've got enough hard working centre mids. Need someone who can relax on the ball and pass it around abit. And for me etuhu and daws can't do that! Don't think mellis should start in a 4 in midfield because he struggles to create anything in a 4 and seems to drift out of the game. Think we need another striker because I'm not 100% about daggers.
I haven't seen Jennings yet, but I'd assume he's still some way off match fitness having only made a few substitute appearances so far. Steele, Wiseman, Cranie, Golbourne, Perkins, Mellis and O'Grady will almost certainly be in the starting 11, but other than that I'd be guessing.
I don't think he necessarily prefers 4-4-2, I just thinks he wants us to be adaptable. He talked about the opposition not knowing how we were going to line up against them. I reckon this will be the team he goes with against Wigan: Steele Cranie Nyatanga Kennedy Wiseman Etuhu Perkins Golbourne Mellis COG Daggers Unless he thinks we won't be able to handle Holt's physical presence up front in which case he'll move Nyatanga to LCB and bring in M'Voto or McNulty - whichever starts this Saturday.
