Is waiting to find out if he will be sacked or not. Am I missing something here? Why is that even up for the slightest debate or discussion? A school teacher was given a criminal conviction for assaulting a child and that isn't instant dismissal?

Isn't this the same guy who was allegedly tormented by the same little brat for months on end before snapping and pushing him in to a bush?

Or is this a completely different story?

teachers are probably not allowed to have criminal convictions full stop. whatever it's for. but i'd like to know what actually happened. there are some very dubious definitions of 'assault' out there

Same story. But for me the circumstances leading up to it were an issue to be dealt with during the convicting (if that is the right word) and once convicted the reasons he did it become completely irrelevant. In fact I would say that assaulting a child simply because they were giving him grief is even worse. What would he do if a kid in school was giving him some stick?

I'd happily push a little gobby brat in a bush if he started mouthing off at me.

End of the day, the teacher is a human being with a limit, which was obviously hit.

The parents should be dragging their kid round to apologise to the teacher, in my opinion.

Indeed but again what happens if that limit is reached in a classroom? There's no way I'd send my kids (If I had them) to a school where one of the teachers has a criminal conviction for assaulting a child regardless of the reason he did it.

I do have sympathy for him for being abused but I don't think that excuses it at all. If he had done the same thing in the school after having snowballs thrown at him and been spat at he would be sacked no questions asked, I don't think it should make a difference just because he did it at home.

how about if they were allowed to take a free swing at one of the parents instead?

I think that is a brilliant solution but needs some fine tuning. How do they decide which parent?

If you want to keep gobbling off at your teachers eventually you'll get dropped be it by the teacher, a fellow pupil or someone outside the school gates.

Children these days get away with murder inside the classroom as teachers aren't allowed to say boo to a goose anymore.

Only thing teacher did wrong was getting caught.

Agreed. If this was me my Dad wouldn't think twice before dragging me round there to apologise. The little brat should be the one in question here, not the teacher.

Hope he keeps his job and the kid gets chucked out, clearly doesn't want to learn so why should he stay?

No matter what someone does, you can't lawfully sack them on the spot.

No he hasn't lost his job he was in court last week and after the judge was told about the mental and physical abuse that he went through prior to the incident he got fined and community service. Not everything is black and white

If I found out my lad had been upto no good like that I'd be disappointed if he'd not been pushed into a bush!
